I would just take the test pipe off and take it up to the dealer and have them fix it for you...Theres a write up around here some where..I guy just did his and took pictures.

But..You're not modded heavily so just take it in

So i called the dealer today to see if the issue was covered under warranty. It turns out that it is not..since its a 3 year/36000 mile covered. So now i am screwed....My options are basically to pay for the dealer to fix it or leave it as it is? does anyone know if this is a serious issue?

someone just posted up a how to on fixing this issue, just need to clean our your egr. but it doesn't seem that you are up to it based off your knowledge so its probably best you let the dealer do it.

umm wrong 07 is 5yr/60k miles powertrain. however you p0401 is the code i just got. but im guessing the autozone scan tool is using generic description. on my scan tool it was evap flow and i took it in under warranty and replaced a sticking purge valve. easily something you could do youself, just double check on the mazda code number description 1st
