Yet another stoopid question. Is the final drive from a regular manual gen one the same?

I read all 6 pages of this thread and I have still been unable to find the answer regarding Genpus.

For folks who are using a GEN2 transmission, do the gen 1 final drives swap directly in, thus effectively giving us slightly longer gearing...or is it not a simple direct swap.

Thanks yall. Nice work.

You cannot mix any of the final drive parts and the shafts must be swapped as well. The gears are made in matched sets so the smaller one gear is the bigger the other must be to cover the distance between the shafts.

So this whole thread is purely theoretical and is just an act of futility?

bumping this thread to see this answered definitively.

I understand that final drives can't be mixed, but will a full trans gear from a gen2 match to a full final drive gear set from a gen1?

Nope

Edit: well maybe... if you take the gen two gears and syncros off and put them on the gen one shafts it might. Im not sure that anyone has tried that.
