Default Mazdaspeed 6 trans not engaging reverse

So my speed has developed a new issue. bought the car with broken shifter cables and swapped them out for the heavier midwest control cables and those broke too. narrowed it down to the rmm bring shot causing the motor to move too much while accelerating. mended the shifter linkage but now it wont go into reverse/ ive adjusted and adjusted but it just wont go. is it possible reverse has just shat the bed? can i fix that without pulling the motor and trans? im gonna check the fluid tomorrow and try adjusting the passenger side rod too to see if I can fix it.

Can you engage it manually at the transmission?

update, turns our conduit inside of cable came undone from the inner layer, ordered new cable and hopefully, I can swap it out without having to pull the entire linkage assembly.
