Quick Q

When you replaced your cam follower did you have the cam lobe:
A) pointing towards the fuel pump
B) pointing away from the fuel pump
C) just made sure the damn thing was straight and screwed in the FP

My lobe is currently pointing down. I just wanna make sure I am good before reinstalling my FP. BTW I had to replace a cam and follower due to the fact the previous owner took it out for some reason and I was curious to know why I chewed up 2 KMD internals in 4 months! This was my first DI engine so I figured I could do the internals and throw the pump in. Man was I wrong!

@rfinkle2 I get my Autotechs and AP tomorrow. Got my follower today! Thanks again for the help. Hopefully it is up and running soon so I can be social again lol

noob here... when i did my fuel pump internals i didnt pay attention to the cam lobe?

LOZ 06-01-2012 05:53 PM

@Hamilton69 from what I have gathered you should take out your cam follower and check that. If it is not knicked or gouged then your cam should be fine. If your pump is ticking loud I would be worried. Trust me. Other than that monitor your fuel pressure

Drenkel was instrumental in finding out your issue for sure.

Hamilton, if the pump is really difficult to get threaded, it is recommended to bump the cam, but if your pump is in in working, you are in the clear for sure.

@LOZ had an extremely rare issue where the previous owner decided to take the follower with him when he traded the car in. Maybe he is using it as a keychain? I dunno. LOL
