Stock HPFP can rattle too
 

I've been through a couple PTP pumps, and it's time to move on to the CPE pump instead. I recently came across Lex's thread about the CPE pump and another one "rattling" recently. It's a great thread and can be found here http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...-rattle-53241/

I just got a new stock pump from PTP, and I put it on yesterday. And what do you know? It rattles like some of the aftermarket pumps. I just wanted to post this in the MS6 section as well in case some of you don't venture over to the MS3 section. Bottom line is, it's just a rattle, it hasn't affected fuel pressure, and there's some good discussion in the link above as to what might be the "cause." It's really not loud, and it doesn't bother me in the least. I just wanted to let you guys know it can happen on a stocker as well!

that rattle used to drive me bonkers. lol. but yea, my stock pump did it, and my pump with kmd v1's did it.

Lol, I'm usually pumping tunes when I'm in the car. Plus, I'm getting an upgraded pump soon, but I'm glad I got to hear it anyways, just so I know what to expect if I get the rattle w/ the new pump. You can hear it with the windows down at a stop light, though I'm not sure how loud it sounds outside the car w/ the hood down. i.e. is the hottie at the light next to you like "wtf is that rattling pos?!" LOL

The "rattle" happens when you change pressure ... so give it a bit of gas or turn the steering wheel to see if it has the same rattle. In my case when I do this the rattle is quite a bit louder.

Thanks, yeah I'll def check it out to see if it's the same, or if it gets louder. I'm trading this 'core' in soon for a CPE pump, but I guess this is what some of them sound like? I read through the other thread, but I don't recall it happening on a stock pump, until socks said so. I read that a while back though, and I forget atm. My stocker and pump #1 never made a peep.

My OEM pump does the same thing, not as loud, but def a little rattle. But the thing holds 1650 to 1700+ psi at WOT. I'm almost afraid to change it out only to start having issues with new internals or high pressure unit.

My stock pump makes that clicking noise at idle too. I had to put my face by it to hear it. My wot pressure is usually 1600-1675. I'd like to upgrade but I'm yet to buy a tuning solution haha.
