(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I drained it and attempted to refill it but not even after 1/4 of a bottle or redline did it start oozing out the fill hole!! I then took off the drain plug and let it drain again and some came out so I plugged up the drain hole and began to fill again and same result What am I doing wrong? and with the little amount in it is my car safe to drive until Wednesday when I take it to the dealership for an unrelated problem? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score No, it's not safe to drive.. Make sure your fill tube isn't plugging the entire fill hole on the transfer case, unless the bottle and the transfercase can vent you won't move any fluid... It's annoying and messy to fill, but you'l know it when it's really full...

| Not Ranked : 0 score Off the top of my head, it does take more than a full bottle, I seem to remember using two bottles.

| Not Ranked : 0 score i put a long hose over the from the bottle feeding it through the top of the engine bay then crawling under sticking the hose in as much as i could...i think it went in about two inches... anyways after doing so i started squeezing the bottle empty from topside. until i saw it oozing out. then i crawled back under and put the plug back in. and when you say transfer you are talking about the one that bolts to the transmission that links to the rear end and passenger side cv? and the drain plug is right under it not on the side of it. and the filler plug is mounted on the side. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score thanks for the replies, i was only using a 1 qt bottle of Redline. After hours of trial and error I realized that a less was spilling out than was actually going in. I switched to a clear tube and attached it to the funnel and watched as the majority of it went inside and just a little bit was leaking out. I think the car was level ... I was under it but my jack stands were all even ... either way I need to find an easier way to do this... the rear diff was easy no problems at all this one was a PITA thanks Last edited by rrussell50; 08-15-2011 at 11:45 PM. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score the T/C really is a pain. I had the same issue, couldn't tell if it was filling, or when it was full. I put about 1 3/4 bottles into it before we decided that it HAS to be full at this point. that was like 10K miles ago, no issues,

| Not Ranked : 0 score this thing sucks to fill. theres something right in the way of the fill hole. you need to go REALLY slow with the pump and wiggle the fill tube around till it stops leaking out after 1/4 bottle. ive had this problem many times

| Not Ranked : 0 score A long tapered nozzle or tip at the end of the hose really helps. This way you can get it in far enough without plugging the hole and blocking air flow. |
