Default Custom FMIC

Feel like I've neglected MSF a lot. You guys should see everything I've got too. Along with my turbo write ups I figured I should show you all this and what Joel and I did.

Okay, so let's make one thing clear, this is JOEL'S (JMHINKLE) FMIC personal design. He thought of it all on his own and I copied it! Actually he helped me piece it together just a little different than his and Qwik6's setup.

I think the biggest part of the last two write ups is how FRICKIN AWESOME this IC setup is. I was driving in 97 degree weather to be exact (via weather channel and IPHONE haha) and saw 66 degree boost temps with my methanol injection. 66 DEGREES! I had been driving a while that day and parked at the the local hastings where I proceeded to go inside and dick around for about 15-20 minutes like I usually do and came out to see my BT were 130 after starting my car that had been sitting in the HOT SUN. WORD! I got going with no meth and was seeing 100-115 BT in city driving and back to the 60s with meth.

There's no extra lag that others would worry about (thanks to the big turbo according to joel) and everything feels great. I can't emphasize how pleased I am with this setup. With the AUTO EXE I saw similar results, just a lot more heat soak and it took longer to get BT down obviously. I would have come out to 180-200 degree boost temps in the same situation that I described above with a TMIC.

Here's a grocery list followed by a lot of pictures.

All the piping came from cxracing.com:

Intercooler piping 2.5" black powder coat
4 L pipes
1 75 degree pipe
1 90 degree pipes
1 straight pipe

Intercooler piping 2.5" polished aluminum
1 straight pipe for the
BPV flange

Total for PC pipes = $119

I paid $50 (locally) to get my flange welded onto the polished aluminum pipe.

Got the flanges from Road///Race Engineering Mitsubishi Eclipse Parts and Performance
1G ALuminum BPV Flange + the gasket = 26.75

Silicone hoses (all purchased on from various buyers for cheapest prices):

5 Hump hoses (3" length 3 ply) - $57
2 45 degree (4ply) - $20
1 90 degree (4 ply) - $17
1 2" - 2.5" (turbo to IC) - $16
1 2.5" - 2.75" (TB to IC-cold pipe) - $16

Intercooler bought on ebay:
CXRACING intercooler 27x6x3.5
$126

T-Bolts- $50 (that's how much it should cost you if they're actually 2.5' ahaha)
2.5" - 18
2.75" - 1
2.0" - 1

TOTAL = 497.75

On a side note before some pictures, this kit requires you to cut your front crash bar, the front grill, and parts of the fog light housing, which isn't a big deal to me at all. You'll that it makes no difference to the sleeper style that I enjoy about my car minus the big intercooler in my grill.

CHANGED IT UP JUST SLIGHTLY!******************************

Why? The BT made the angle coming over the valve cover breather awkward, So I got a J pipe and hacked it which resulted in this! Also Joel and I raised my intercooler just slightly. You'll see my fog light housing poking out just slightly, I didn't notice until I took this picture today and fixed that problem too. Everything with this setup is cherry now.

ALSO the piping along the intake manifold sits flush against the manifold making it easy for me to secure the piping even more.

Fuck man. That set up is the shit!

I noticed you switched to the HKS BPV. I like the sound of that one and it holds boost like a son of a bitch.

Great job on the set up, everything looks tits!

Very Nice. Interesting Design. Cleanest I have seen for sure.

I hate the heat soak that my ETS gets. It is winter now so it does not matter car RIPS with the thing in cool weather.

I would love to do a FMIC but all this cutting and shit is insane while the car still has a warranty I could not hide the cutting lol.

THERE IS NO WINDSCREEN WASHER FLUID RESERVOIR IN THE FACTORY LOCATION, IT'S JUST A 90º PIPE THERE. THE OP CANNOT TAKE ANYMORE PICS, SINCE HE NO LONGER HAS THE CAR

Welcome to MSF, learn how to use Caps Lock properly, which is never.

i'd get that 90 and straight pipe section welded. two less clamps to worry about leaking boost or popping off. or the three pieces from the turbo even.

Every section of it popped off at some point because I didn't flare out the piping enough. At one point when I was fucking around with boost, I spiked to ~23-25 psi and it DID pop off my turbo...which was scary haha. After that it never leaked...EVER...and boost leak checks take about 3 minutes...
