Default pg exhaust manifold w/ ewg fitment

So I tried putting the mani on today and the flange connecting to the head would not sit flush. I could only get 2 studs on one side completely flush, and the studs on the other side are barely on the mani. Is anybody else running this manifold or has problems with fitment?

It would have to be seriously warped to fit that bad.. Unless your blind, there is no way you wouldn't notice it before you started the install.

Look around for something in the way...

i dont think its the flange that isnt str8. i have a pg mani and have seen a few..... try this:

facing the front of the car..... and with the exhaust manifold installed(or pretend it s installed) drill out the 2 drivers side farthest holes on the mani just a little.... the holes basically need to be elongated and the manifold will then sit flush.

i dont think u are having a flange straightness problem..u are having a misalignment of the stud holes on the flange issue. ( i have seen it on 3 pg exhaust manfolds already....including my own)

make sense??

Ok here is another suggestion... there is a bolt on the mani side head near the valve cover that holds the engine cherry picker eyelet (see picture) ..... remove that bolt and eyelet. I could not get it to seal because of that bolt. The runner would hit that bolt and not allow it to seat properly.

And as for removing studs NO!! Don't do it!

I have more suggestions on getting the manifold on relatively easily without drilling the holes out... or removing studs. Let me know if you want an explanation.

Removing the mani is pretty easy. Just use a pry-bar between the head and mani. Very carefully work it off NOT using brute force but more finesse.

What version of the PG mani do you guys have? It's scary that there's so many fitment issues, especially hitting that eyelet thing up above... It isn't like our engines are all physically different... I have the PGv3, haven't thrown it on yet, but this thread worries me.

I think you are right Ive talked to someone else about this and I am going to drill one size bigger for the 2 drivers side and put washers on it. but how should I get this mani off the head?

what version of the mani do you have I dont think I had that problem with the bolt but I just need to get this mani out. isnt prying dangerous and cant it fuck up the gasket? why shouldnt I take out the studs wont it be safe with a 10 mm revorse torx wrench?

I have the v3 with ewg. but its gay he didnt put a vband on the ewg pipe. also its a bitch that the holes arent lined up now I got drill em bigger. This shits a pain in the ass. but this is my first car ive worked on and im only a teenager so you should be able to do it. just make sure you have deep sockets and a swiveling wratcheting wrench that swilves in all directions

MAKE SURE U HAVE SOME 14MM RATCHETING OPEN END/BOX WRENCHES (COMBINATION) AND SOME DIFFERENT LENGTH EXTENSIONS FOR A 3/8 DRIVE RATCHET AND DEEP 14MM SOCKETS OF THE SAME DRIVE

as far as (sorry for caps) prying the flange u shouldnt damage the metal gasket....take your time and let it come out semi straight 9use some flat head screw drivers also in there to wedge it and keep it open while using the pry bar to do the heavy prying

I'm about to execute on my BT install, but someone I spoke to DID NOT like the quality of the PG... He said that it was too thin and it'll crack with the weight of my turbo... :/ He said that it shouldn't glow red on a simple dyno run lol...

would putting a turbo bracket prevent the mani from cracking since its less weight on the mani

You can also remove the 2 bolts holding the passenger side mount to the frame rail. Also remove the 3 bolts holding the rmm. That should give you plenty of play to remove the mani.
