Default Easiest iPod install method suggestions

06 MS6

Trying to figure out (without having to pull apart my dash to get at the back of the factory radio) if there are any plugs on the back of the deck in which to plug in my iPod. I am using an FM transmitter now, but we all know the downfalls of that. I know there is the SAT button on the radio, so I figured there might be a plug in the back in which to plug in a satellite radio. If there is a plug, is it RCA's?

Would love some feedback, or other suggestions on a solid way (and a cheap way!) to listen to my iPod.

Should add that there are several plug and play options available as well if you don't want to go the DIY route. Google aux-mod, Grom Audio, Xlink/audiolink for Mazda 6 and you will see several different options for aux-in to the Bose HU. Prices seem to be about $60-120 for these options.

just replaced X car link with a NEO ipod adapter. The X car link kept switching off of Shuffle to alphabetical non shuffle with repeat. Did this with two different units. Was starting to get sick of nothing but Allman Bros!

Allman Brothers, classic!

Brandoid, in your display pic, i see your steering column mounted gauge. The red matches the gauges perfectly, what brand and type of gauge is it?

hey chadeckler, i bought a grom aux audio kit for my ms6 and didnt have to take the stereo out at all. someone mentioned you can manuver your way behind the console and plug it in. heres the ipod kit. IPOD

just grab a flashlight, crawl down into the drivers side foot well, and look up towards the bottom right of the stereo. its the big rectangular CD port where you plug it into. there was like a foam tube in my way so i just pulled that off for a min and was able to squeeze my hand in there. i wont lie, its a pretty small space to get your hand in there (thats what she said), but its doable. you just have to be patient. then i just mounted the box with double sided tape under the steering column cause i dont like to drill holes inside if not necessary

Default GROM AUDIO

Hey All,

I just completed my Grom Audio iPod Integration Kit Install for my 06 MS6. The adapter itself cost around $100 when all was said and done. I followed a tutorial for how to remove the HU, and after a little work it turned out pretty easy. The only trouble I had was with the glovebox. I felt like I was going to break the bottom pieces that held it together, but it simply needed some force.

The kit allows for both the iPod connector as well as the AUX connector. I ran both of these wires up through the console, but needed to use a knife to cut out part of the vent on the bottom of the console in order to thread the wires nicely. I then left the AUX cord in the main console, and ran the ipod connector to the top part of the console.

I am loving the location of the ipod because it is easy to access and use the controls if necessary. Also, I went with the GROM because it had all the same features as the other integration kits, just at half the price. I would recommend this kit to anyone because its a pretty simple install for most people with any knowledge of common tools and DIY mentality. If anyone has any questions feel free to pm me.

- Cameron

sound is just as good as it would be with a grom. the quality will depend on how good you aux cables are. I get clean stereo sound from my DIY.
