Default Stupid Cabin Air Filter Question

I just got a WIX air filter. Instructions say make sure Arrow faces UP when installing, but, other filter I took out, it faced down. Does is really matter? Can't really see a difference either way, but, didn't know if I should follow WIX instructions or old air filter.

I learned this the hard way, anything other than OEM won't fit. Follow OEM direction, not WIX. Check your owners manual.

I will turn it so the arrow faces down. BTW..the wix fits fine. It is the filter for the CX-7..this is the same as our Speed6.

I used a Wix, and it's not the right size. Went back and got the OEM one and had no trouble with the install (mind you the Wix was right out of their book for a Mazdaspeed6).

Could you give me the site where you got the one that fits? No auto places around here have a cabin air filter for my car (2006 MS6), including the local Mazda dealership. They said they'd order some but never did.

Yay...I've been looking for somewhere to get that filter replaced. Prior to putting in the ptp pill and switching to 5w40, I had some oil burn-issues and it was all coming through into the cabin. Time to go get the part! Thanks guys.
