Why do people always want to go aftermarket shit and think is better? WTF!

It happened to me also. Everyone was saying HAWk is tha best! Well FUCK that! It aint.

Stopping power is 50% less than oem. Also after 10,000 miles, they are making noise.

Just get the OEM and learn from our mistake. Here is a good place to buy it for a great price.

$156

Make sure to Resurface your rotors. Make sure to measure it first. The measurements and the specs are on the side of the rotor.

Let say, If it is 8.5MM and you measure your rotor and it is 9.0mm your good to go.

If it is 8.5mm or lower you need to buy new rotors.

You don't need to resurface your rotors when replacing them with the same pads unless you have a shimmy. It's a waste. The OP has an MS6 as well.

Only a dumbass would resurface rotors when replacing them with the same pads.

How many miles on your 2009 MS3?
And why you need to replace your pads and rotors so soon?

Disregard my earlier comment. Either something is wrong with my setup, or it just hasn't broken in yet. If you look over the Subaru forums, those guys swear by red and yellow stuff, even those who do lots of racing.

Check this out:
http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/suspen...is-report.html

And this for the yellows:
http://www.subiegal.com/productrevie...uff_review.htm

I think I'm gonna stick to my reds till they completely break in, then I'll share my impressions.

You guys that are trashing the Hawks so heavily must be smoking crack...

I'm not even using the aggressive Hawks (I've got the HPS on the fronts now) and while they lack some of the initial bite that the OEM pads had, they stop the car just as well/easily as the stock pads. They just require a little bit more pedal pressure, that's all. They also resist fade on the track a bit better than the OEM pads...

Maybe I got a freak set, but I have no real complaints, especially when you factor in cost.

Just my $0.02.

once they bite, they're nice, but i want to try some carbotechs next time. or maybe that axxis shit (or whatever) that jeff was talking about

I went with the Hawk Performance Ceramics and they have been great for DD. Significantly lesser dust than the stockers. If you wind up going with stockers, I would check this place since they offer free shipping and prices are 20% MSRP. Use the Contact Us link to ask for a quote. If you want to order a part that's not listed, they'll put it on their Web site for ordering.

There are two group buys going on at the other forum for the Hawk pads. I got the F&R ceramics for $127 shipped. Regular Hawk HPS are going for $115 shipped - for Speed3 application.

Ive had the rotora h2's on for a few days now, they feel good. Not too much much bite cold but it doesnt matter. the braking feels smooth and easy.

Cobalt friction now has brake fitments for the MS3.

I ran XR3 compound pads on my all-motor civic hatch and these brakes work extremely well. You will, however, want to change brake fluid to at least a Motul rbf600 DOT4 brake fluid if you run these pads as they generate alot of heat.

Cobalt Friction Technologies USA - Friction Compounds

Application chart:

MS3 brakes are on page 11

MS3 brake prices are on pages 20 and 21

i have EBC redstuff on my speed6 and couldnt be happier, they squeak, they dust, but they stop way more comfortably than stock, and when you slam the brakes they work to what i estimate is 10feet closer stop from 70mph. plus i live in the mountains and to and from civilization is a touge course, these breaks work so much better than stock.

If that's the case then no wonder why our stock brakes are so good. Ferodo makes really good pads but mostly for European makes (kinda makes sense since our brakes are from the S40/V40).

I just recently changed my pads to Hawk HPS & haven't noticed any big difference in initial bite over the OE pads. I haven't taken it to the track since changing pads, but look foward to seeing as how they act compared to the OE pads.
I've used Hawk pads on my other cars in the past & never had complaints.
