The 6 pistons are sick. But 4 pistons can probably do the job just fine for what I'm shooting for. Much more clean than painting stock calipers

Yeah, I'd be surprised if DM didn't go ahead and make the brackets for us MS3 folks given the interest, I'd also think the MS3 version would be interchangeable with FoST which would make it a more worthwhile venture.

An issue with the 6 piston versions is that their combined piston area is too far off our stock calipers, which throws off brake bias in an undesirable manner. Granted there are ways to adjust the bias to account for this, but at that point you're getting into the realm of why bother, since there are plenty of other options that would fall within the same price range that are engineered to maintain factory brake bias.

Still no update? Can't wait to get some on my car. Just saw a photo on instagram of someone putting yellow Cadillac calipers on their speed. Looks amazing

Yeah, I'm done waiting, my pot with patience is empty. I will phoken order a set of CS front calipers and paint the rears. I wish I could fit some OEMs of any kind (FoRS, CTS-V, whatever) but some good aftermarket will work. Or I will get new OEMs, the ones I have are baked after 9+ years of hooning around.

Just something about painting stocks looks horrible. Guy I know in town has a black pu with calipers he painted a year or two ago. They look light red and the paint is flaking.

Those GM calipers look great tho
If nothing happens, later this year I will seriously look at designing and possibly producing my own brackets to fit the aforementioned calipers on an off the shelf rotor. I'm a stickler for beautiful brakes

I don't want the flash. So if I were to paint my stock ones, it'd be mostly so it is easier to keep them clean and to make every look less grimy. As such I would paint them gray.

So, for me the gray painted V calipers would do exactly what I want.

Rear: https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-172-2.../dp/B000S2Q5O0

I'd strongly consider this in the future even though I have new rotors and RedStuff on deck...

I picked up a Wilwood BBK 6 Piston from edge, came with the 2 piece rotors, stainless lines, pads and calipers and of course the brackets needed to make it work. It’s a bolt on kit as well. It was $1050 shipped to the door.

Posted that above for the guys who still want a BBK for a good price. They’re out there, just have to search on the net. I almost went with the CS calipers but once I priced them along with new rotors and pads stainless lies, I was in the $1200 range.

I'm not about it. What I do see myself doing is picking up some used calipers on the cheap off eBay or something. Not looking to dish out that much for a BBK, although a price like that is to be expected. Pair the used calipers with some hopefully relatively inexpensive brackets and hopefully we can see a more affordable kit

I think at this point it wouldn’t be a bad idea to just get a list of cars that have the same hub pattern as we do and start looking into their brakes.

So we did confirm at least that the Focus RS caliper will bolt up directly? As in the brake lines will just bolt in? So the challenge is to find the correct rotors and pads?

I don't think the brake line subject was broached per se, however I'd imagine brake lines for a FoRS should in theory mate up to the Mazda connections without issue (correct me if I'm wrong).

The caliper bolts up to the existing caliper mount per Matt@Damond, however it sounds like the holes in the knuckle that the caliper mounting bolts go through will have to be bored out to accommodate the FoRS caliper bolts (unsure how much bigger holes need to be).

Pads will should just be stock FoRS sizing, no need to adapt anything there, and as for the rotors, the stock FoRS rotors will work with a bit of machine work. The hub center bore will need to be increased from 63.4mm to 67.1mm dia. and the lug pattern will have to be adapted from 5x108 to 5x114.3, which will essentially make the holes a bit oblong (each will be drilled out roughly 3mm further from hub center, if that makes sense).

In other words, doable with some adaptation, should be pretty straight forward though. The only other thing to consider is the wheel size needed to run the FoRS brakes, Matt mentioned that you need a minimum of 18" wheels to clear calipers, not sure on offset but I figure going off the RS specs would be a good start there.

It would be awesome to find a drop in rotor ..... all that extra work is extra $ .... surely there exists a 5x114 rotor off the shelf for some other car. Just would need to do alot of test fitting

That is going to be tough to track down methinks, the FoRS rotors have an oddball thickness (25mm) and everything I'm seeing which is going to be similar diameter and offset are anywhere between 30-32mm thick.

Our stock rotors fit the bill aside from the fact they're 320mm vs 350mm in diameter.

Default CTS V Brake Swap

Hi guys

Im swapping out a power brake system from one 1971 LeMans into another. Im taking the power booster, pedal rod and master cylinder off the car with the power brakes and dropping them into the non-power one. Do I need to swap the proportioning valve as well?

Thanks
