Cracked turbo waste gate.

Bought a rebuilt OE Turbo from PureTurbos.com via ebay. They have 100% good feedback and decent priced with a 1 year warranty for $475 w/ free ups shipping.

Got it in the mail and wast gate seat is cracked. Looks like from just wear and tear. This is the second one from them. Exchanged the first one because the cracks were a lot worse then this.

Should I send this one back it are these cracked not a big deal?

send it back, get your money back, and deal with a legitimate company that doesnt send you broken products...twice

That's very common on K04 turbo exhaust housings. If the housing has been reused (ie turbo was rebuilt) you are likely to run into this issue.

Do you think Ill run into any problems with this? Time is an issue...My old Turbo is about to go real soon so if these cracks won't cause any problems, ill just install it.

They will cause an issue because they will spread over time as you heat cycle them.

All cracks will grow. You can pull your stock turbo, see if it's in better shape and swap over the exhaust housing from your stock turbo to the rebuilt turbo. Chances are you'll find your stocker also has cracks - especially if it is high mileage.

Spend $25 and donate here, go into the for sale section and get a non smoking low mile turbo from someone that is going bt, at most they are about $200 bucks shipped for a non smoker with LOWWW miles. Alright, thanks guys. Ill call them tomorrow and see if they will give me a NEW housing. I like that the internals are brand new but if they won't help me further, ill just get my money back and buy one from someone on here.

I second this notion but he's on a cx-7 so finding his ko4 might be a little trickier.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression the cx-7 was designed to output torque differently than the ms3 ko4s

True story...cx-7's k04 shifts the torque curve to the left....so even less high rpm output than our 3's and 6's...so for what ever reason..BNR wont use the cx-7 for the core change...must be diff some how.

Was planning on donating anyway but not quite yet. Money is super tight right now.
So what do you guys think about getting this for $90 then buying a new cartridge for about $280?

...So I asked the guy who manufactured this new Turbo. He said its manufactured in Wuxi, China by Hosit. It has a 1 year warranty. Should I buy? Does anyone know someone with one of these? I maybe figure since there are so many problems with the kkk/Warner brand, how bad could this be?...Like I said in another thread about our timing chain fails, maybe we should try another brand sine the oe one fail so often.

I wont be getting this. Im giving PureTurbos one last chance to get it right. They apologized and are sending another one today. He said that this hasn't happen before and I believe him because they have nothing but great feedback. I tend to have bad luck with this type of shit anyway lol.

Anyway, about the china made copy-cat turbo...Its visually an exact replica. The only thing different that I can see is that the waste gate looks slightly different, cheaper looking...Attached are the china made K04...

The china turbos may look the same but there are usually tolerance and reliability issues galore. It's just asking for trouble in the long run.

Finally got my 3rd turbo and it looks brand new. No cracks at all and they even gave me new studs. Just waiting on the new hoses and gaskets from another store.
