Default Stock Headunit Problems

So, I got in my car today and had the radio on. After a gay song came on I tried to switch to CD mode, it switched ok, but wouldnt play anything. So I ejected the cd out and was gonna re-load it. CD ejected fine, went to put it back in and after I hit the load button, nothing happened.

I could hear some noises, but it didnt sound like the CD tray moving or anything. I also noticed that it said I had 2 CD's in it, but I didnt have any after I ejected the one cd.

Is there a way to reset the headunit? Do you think Disconnecting the battery, then reconnecting it would work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try disconnecting the battery, that will reset everything including the radio, if that doesn't work I have no idea. Still have a warranty?

Option A is take it to the dealer and see if they will at least look at it without charging you, and if they diagnose it for free maybe its something you can do yourself. Option B is buy a used one of another forum member that no longer needs theirs. Option C Get with the times no one uses cd's anymore lol

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but, I did a few searches and I'm basically curious about my stock head unit's shitty performance. I have the Sport so it's non-Bose and I only have a single disc player rather than the six-disc changer (even though upgrading to that is probably not too difficult).

I have no problem with the radio or anything, but, I'm concerned about the CD player. I simply CANNOT enjoy listening to CDs in this car because the discs skip horrendously over the mildest of bumps in the road. Is this normal of the stock stereos or should I get it replaced? My MS3 is certified and under an extended warranty. I appreciate any help, guys.

I have the bose so someone else can let you know for sure, but that sounds like something that should be covered and not normal.

Although people shit-talk the Bose, I miss the Bose I had in the 6 I traded in. To be honest, sound quality isn't much different between the non-Bose stereo and the Bose, but, the subwoofer helped out in channeling out the bass better and letting more treble shine through (I tend to blast my bass and treble settings to +6). I also feel that the 6-disc changer helped keep the discs more secure. My CD-player in my Mazdaspeed 3 is pretty much on the same level as the crappy stock CD player in my brother's beat-to-shit Mazda Protege DX with over 120,000 miles.

It just seems like the CD has too much room to vibrate over bumps or a laser mechanism or something else is loose. I suspect this problem isn't normal at all.

I'd be interested if I had a Bose system in my car. My only option is to get it replaced under warranty. Do you know if anyone with the non-Bose head unit complained of excessive skipping on these forums? Most of the threads I searched through involved installing aftermarket systems.

EDIT: Wait. You have a MS3 Sport. By saying it works fine, does that mean you had it hooked up in your car? From what I recall, all the wiring is different.

I would be interested in getting a new 6 disc cd changer if the price is right. Hit me up with some offers.

Is it alright that I don't have the face plate? 4 side screws and it slides right in. Let me know, I fabricated a custom single din for the car using the stock face plate. The Metra one is horrid as we all agree...
