MS6 Low Beam Hella Projector Fog Lights

So I found two Low beam hella projector light housings in my spare parts bin and i decided since i had the bumper off for my FMIC install i would check to see if they would fit.....and guess what i found out They will! and look amazing! Just a few pics to start with, Im mid process of modifying the stock mount to fit these housings but not much dremiling should need to be done!!! Very excited. Will post more soon. Here are a few teaser pics!

I have the hella projectors evevated, so they look bigger but really they are only slightly bigger at 90mm in dia




By just removing the stock fog the new assembly basically just lines right up minus a few spots to be trimmed

I'm not a lighting person, so from the position of total ignorance I'm wondering about
-power supply being sufficient to drive them & do so without melting wires, blowing fuses and the like
-about heat & if they put out more heat or too much heat
-about the cut-off, which might actually be a good thing

My neighbor has a bugeye, and decided to mount his Hella's from his Jeep (one OEM fog light was broken anyway). Looks pretty cool, and unique.

awesome the lighting is decent. they aren't expensive projectors. I had them in my old headlight conversion on my old car.

Would the hella housing be able to use the stock light bulb plug piece? Meaning could we just pop out the old housing, and insert bulb using the same twist lock mechanism?

Guys this was so simple its mind blowing.... the only thing i need to do now is aim them a bit better. All in all though I had to drill one hole and take out the stock fog light and that was it. I can post up specs of the hella lights when i get home tonight, but until then here are a few pictures!










Also fyi I know nothing about lighting, I just read that people were modifying their stock fog light plugs to match the bulbs that just happen to be in the low beam hella projectors i had, so i figured why not just see if the entire thing works instead.....and sure enough it did!!! Also did not come in contact with my new FMIC piping i cut and installed all of yesterday!!! So i picked up two mods

Thank you for all the kind words guys. Once i complete the setup by actually working out a way to level them or aim them then Ill post all the diy info, but it was incredibly simple, it just worked so perfectly with minimal thought

DIY to make your H9 bulbs work in place of the H11, but the cool thing is the H11 bulbs fit in the hella housings so really you could still go with the stock bulbs if you wish

Once Im finished with the project ill post up some pictures and a description of what to do Im currently also venting the fog lights to allow air through to cool the IC pipes and will be trying to figure out a way of adding an aiming screw to my setup.

I've got a question, I can't tell from the pics, but on the front of the foglights, is there any glass or plastic that seals the light housing and protects it from road debris, or is it completely open?

the hella lights are in a footlight housing with back mounting plate and a front glass dome. Very nice construction! I just want to change out the bulds to match my low beams up top the ones on the btm are not quite as white and bright

Im sorry man all i have is the part number listed but its super easy to do they line up better then one would think but adjustability is meeehhhh.... but im sure someone could do it better.


Hood is holding up nicely. Barely sees any rain in there and even if it does it falls in okay places. The amount of cooling i see is remarkable. Plus i think it adds to the lines of the car nicely!

I'm assuming you used the Hella low beam projector. That part number is HL68137. Here's good info on them and a decent price too.

Price is each, but seems to be on the low end of the spectrum.
ESB Jiu JItsu is the depth on these longer or shorter than the stock projector housings?

longer.... its the only dimension that gave me a bit of an issue due to my fmic but still works like a charm. Just trim to fit. Once you place it against the open fog light bezel everything will come together. Its as simple as some dremel work and 2 screws from your parts bin Well worth the small amount of work! Sorry i didnt get to do a step by step but its really just cut and test fit sort of scenario.

I'm changing to a bigger FMIC so I was hoping these were a little shorter to buy some room with over the stockers. Guess I'll have to do FMIC first and see if there is room for these after. They do look good.
