Rice or not?

The new scion FR-S is buyable now in the USA, in Europe and Asia the same car is sold as a Toyota. alot of Scion FR-S owners are paying $60-$100 to re badge the scion as a Toyota, so that they can be JDM. Is this rice you guys think?

not really sure how this is rice. There are a bunch of members on here with the AXELA badge on their MS3 or hell, even the MPS badge and its not viewed as rice. Now if the badge is a different color, like blue or green or some shit and lights up like those stupid Honda badges, then thats rice. Hell, your blacked out emblem in your avatar should be considered rice....

I consider rebadging your 3 with Axela/MPS badges rice. Attempting to make your Mazdaspeed 3 that was purchased in the US appear as if it was purchased in Europe or Japan is silly, in my opinion.

I removed my rear Mazdaspeed 3 badge and blacked out my front and rear "M" badges. I suppose that could be considered rice, too, and if some do, I don't really care. I consider it making the car look a little cleaner (and blacking it out, since my car is black). In fact, I'd prefer to debadge the whole car--the only reason I painted the "M"s is because if I removed them, they would have left holes. I'm not trying to fool people into thinking that the car is something it's not.

This is the key statement. I'm not trying to make my car something it's not. That's what rice is.

not so much jdm or rice, it is about the true orgins of the platform, it's design was majorily influenced by the toyota ae86' corolla, a rwd, affordable, lightweight sports car with good potential.

In Japan it is known as the toyota 86' because of the above which makes more sense then fr-s

Best I can figure is it's a WRX on rally suspension with some STI stuff added in. And if it is a legit STI it's definitely not rice cause it looks basically all dealer stock. You can order SPT stuff and STI stuff from the dealer for your WRX when you get it.

Well for starters its not an STI.

STI's were never offered in wagon form. Engine swap is not possible since that wagon is an auto.

Owner sure wishes it was an STI though. Went to a lot of trouble trying to convince other people it is.

Credit should be given where due. The car may be decent. I've seen 10 second NA Hondas. Shit does happen, but not in a 1998 accord. That's where it gets funny.

Yeah, but none of the hondas that are all need for speed-ed up are 10 second hondas. The only honda you should be worried about is the piece of shit 93 hatch that is rusting to pieces that pulls up next to you at a light and revs. That's the honda that's gonna embarrass you so hard you'll sell your car.

HAHAHA That is pretty true, there is a local here that has his Honda project nicknamed Project Lowball.
His goal was to build a sub $2000, 10 second Honda ED Hatch.
