of course they only show you the side window which is easy. Most all back windows are concave and usually require a heat gun to form the film to the window. thats a decent price for pre cut tint if you want to do it your self

Hey pat, I was wondering if you ended up going through with this. If you have, you should post some pics. I think I might try them out as well.

I have a couple buddies that used snap tint. The rear is a pain in the ass to get it to conform to the back window. Side windows are a walk in the park. One guy has had his for five years now with no issues.

A friend at work helped me tint my car in the summer of 2008. We did it during lunch time (one window per day). We went to the undergroung parking level to avoid dust being blown by the wind. We could not do the rear window, I had to pay some one to do it.

Some tips: I used some of my business cards to get the air bubbles out of the edges. After we were done, I would always parked my car in the sun, and any little bubles that were left would be gone the next day. One thing to note is that Snap Tint sent me the wrong cut for the rear window. Previous Mazda 3 models have the rear brake light on the window, but the 2007 and up models have it on the spoiler. My windows still look great today.

Spray bottle, squeegee, heat gun, patience.... Basically you'll take the film, and the side with the removable backing will face towards you.. You'll spray your rear window down with a lot of water mixed with a tad bit of soap, and lay the tint down on top of it. You'll then begin to squeegee from the center out. You'll notice that flat tint doesn't like to curve very well and it gets what they refer to as "fingers". You'll use your heat gun to warm the material and make it pliable and shrink and continue to squeegee it down to "roll out" the fingers. This will form the tint to the curve of your window. Once its laid down completely without any fingers, youll trim along where the black line of the dot matrix begins. Then open the hatch and spray down inner window, remove backing while spraying liberally to sticky side of tint, and then apply to window, squeegeeing out the water... Check out you tube, there's plenty of how to videos there for you to get an idea... Watch as many of them as you can. Basically, the bottom line is, do this in a dust/wind free environment, be clean about it so you don't get any dust under the film, and take your time. If you fuck up the material, tint is relatively inexpensive....

For something that has such a dramatic effect on how the car looks, I would be concerned with doing it myself. I had someone do it with quality SolarGuard tint with the window strip for $235. While twice as much as the SnapTint, it looks really good and I can get it fixed if I have problems. I also could do something else important (spend time with my daughter) while I had it done.

I wouldn't try it personally. I say this because I have attempted tail light tint kits on two separate occasions, and I failed miserably. I obviously don't have the patience and skill for this sort of stuff. Electronics or mechanical parts...no problem. Tint and paint...hell no.

Ya, I work with films as my secondary job (calendar vinyl, banners done in vinyl, car wraps, a little tinting), so working with giant stickers is my thing... If you're not competent enough to watch someone do something then be able to do it yourself, then you'll probably not be able to do it... BTW in my area there are mobile tint installers that will do your entire car for under $150 with Solarguard materials.... The best thing about going with a mobile installer is that they're cheaper then a brick and mortar store because their overhead isn't so high, and if you provide them with a wind and dust free environment out of the sun, they'll do just as good a job as the brick and mortar shops will most of the time....

Would tint be similar to vinyl? I've gotten half decent at applying vinyl

I bought the snap tint in Dec 2006 and it had been great, easy install. I even got the visor tint for the windshield, makes a huge difference in the afternoon sun. Now for the back window, you better have a garage because the wind is your enemy.

I used to tint cars, but the back windows are such a pain I payed someone else to do mine. Plus down in florida, so many people get their windows tinted, its cheap. I payed $160 for all the windows.

I do not have any pics very recent for I am in Baghdad Iraq, they ( the Army ) would not allow me to take the car to Iraq, but I have un uparmored suburban to drive in.

The tint has held up without bubbles. I have tinted my 2 other vehicles, 1982 Ford F100- had it 9 years no bubbles and 1994 Dodge Ram- had it 4 years no bubbles, I wish I could say the same for the stock paint.
These were easier for all windows are flat. I cleaned the windows with distilled water and baby shampoo. Then when I peal off the tint I spray the tint with 1/10th solution of baby shampoo and Distilled Water. ***Use Distilled Water*** Regular water has minerals in and will cause bubbles.

I have some pics on myspace and facebook of my car but my gov computer has me on lock down.

Lay the tint on the back window ADHESIVE OUT, on the OUTSIDE of the window and shrink it with a heat gun until it conforms to the shape of the window. Now it has the concave shape of the window and you can apply it.

I use a product called Rapid Tac for any wet apply vinyl jobs I do, it is meant to "dry out" under tint and vinyl and helps promote better adhesion.
