it's easy to tune part throttle and cruise to get great MPG on the Caliber (using the FIC)

An ugly ass Caliber that can make your car look like a Civic hatchback and says FYMN as it leaves you in a cloud of dust.

Congrats guys! <3 SRT's.

Darksun280 07-15-2011 06:46 AM

Damn whoosh been wondering where you been at. I was trolling the caliber forums looking for updates on your cherry wagon.

I made sure the opening of this thread stated BIG UGLY FWD Mopar
We are all very aware the Caliber isn't a high end sports car but still love the car regardless

I actually really liked the Caliber SRT4's when they came out. They had one parked inside Six Flags Over Texas when they first came out, and you had to fill out those stupid forms in order to have a chance to win. I skipped my fair share of rides while I sat there and filled out multiple forms to put in the box. Turns out though, it was all just a scam by the dealership to get your contact information and repeatedly call you asking if you are in the market for a vehicle.

NJSPEED3 07-15-2011 08:51 AM

Ron you are only here to depress us!

jonspeed3 07-15-2011 09:01 AM

Sweet. Wish this platform was capable of this.. :/

alien_sporez 07-15-2011 09:14 AM

Wow, congrats!! I actually like the Caliber SRT-4's. I guess I like 'ugly' because I did end up getting a GenPu.

Boonestafa 07-15-2011 09:22 AM

so just to be clear.. how did you get 35 mpg? no.. 36 mpg? did you use cruise control?
:scratchchin:

j/k
congratulations! that is one fast FWD piece of american iron! while i cant get anywhere near that lapsed time or trap.. i have gotten 34.5mpg over 200+ miles driving from B-more to state college in PA. i guess the real feat there is that the caliber is shaped even more like a brick than the speed!
:arms:

m4tic 07-15-2011 10:08 AM

i still to this day have never seen a CSRT4

ccspeedsix 07-15-2011 10:14 AM

I have, and the dude driving it acted like every other person driving a neon srt4.

But mad props to whoosh, i remember when he first made the switch, and instantly had 400 whp on that thing while we were still dealing with load cap.

ahh those were the days

RacerX78 07-15-2011 10:17 AM

I miss my Cali. I saw a blue CSRT4 today. Its nice seeing people still doing big things with that car.

driver311 07-18-2011 06:28 AM

I dont think the csrt is ugly. Must just be me. LOL Atleast the front anyhow. The ms3 can run these times also its just the csrt has guys like this pimp dedicating himself to it. Ill get us our 11s but Im only on stock motor. Itll take big hp like these guys are pushing to run 10s. These cars have it in them just dont have the people or shops behind them. These cars are track cars not drag cars and thats the focal point. YOu dont see csrt at the autocross track hanging with ms3s do you?? The ms3 community just cant sit back and expect someone else to do it. If you want shit like this to go down in the ms3 then get off your ass and do it. LOL Just saying.

Ps. Kick ass bro. Ive always had great respect for what you do Playa.

kmac 07-18-2011 07:13 AM

I like the caliber srt4, I almost bought one before the speed3. I was trading in the speed6 and u test drove the sti, EVO, caliber and speed3. I found the caliber and speed more my style( I like the hatches) ,but the speed is what I wanted. The sti inside I didn't like and I found the EVO a little uncomfortable for me and over priced for what u get. Congratulations on the time g/l .

shawn. 07-18-2011 04:24 PM

raced a CSRT4 on the way to my local ski hill this past winter...thing was pretty fast. mclovin stepped out of the vehicle once we pulled in lol. he was cool as hell though, said it was around 360whp and i believe it. actually looked alright with a huge front mount and blacked out.

yeah I hear you
my 11.8 @ 120 was stock block, stock head, modded stock turbo with bolt ons Oct. 2009 believe it or not
time passes by so quick

my car in the current state has potential to go well in the 10's I just have to seal the deal so to speak which historically I'm slow getting that done
I like to use parts sourcing/web sales, forum administration, 2 kids, 4 dogs, and a real job on top of that as partial excuse :paranoid:

irishking03 07-19-2011 05:36 AM

Nice..

MSFer87 07-19-2011 06:58 AM

4G63 07-19-2011 07:10 AM

Problem is I took two years off. LOL. But first time back at track I rocked 12.0. So close. But problems is gearing. Im gonna try a smaller 25inch slick and see if I can get deeper in 5th. Right now Im crossing like at redline in 4th on the 26s at 115ish and its just not gonna work. Even with a lil more power im gonna barely be shifting. Dumb. I think 25s is a good medium.

What are you guys rocking bro??

using a 26" tire
we have hit 126-131MPH in 4th at 6500"ish" RPM

the gearing isn't too bad...

RISE RIIIISE RIIIIIIIIIIIIIISE from the dead........... Bwuahahahah!!:squareeyed:

Any who I just found this thread and I believe this is the car that my coworkers husband picked up a few months ago. I know it was a realtunes project car and he bought it from Ron. Got it dirt cheap too 15k if I'm not mistaken with under 17k miles.

I invited him to the track this weekend, but he said the car was throwing a bunch of codes! Hes been looking for someone to retune it out here. Small world I guess!

I've spoke to the new owner a few times and his plans are to track it once he gets a tune. Currently his DD!!! He's having a hard time finding someone that knows platform out here. He said to me that it was making over 500whp on race gas in the east coast. Hopefully we to see this beast out here.

I'm not a subject matter expert on the caliber but, isn't it the same engine and ecu as the neons?

I have no idea.....

The only fact I know about srt4s is that they have power windows in the front and manual handles in the back! Haha

That's good sport compact car trivia.

And they don't have a muffler, srt-4s are bad ass!

Not the same car. If you're talking about Oscar, the car he bought is actually Whoosh's old car, not the one in the vid. Still a 10 sec capable car with the right tune and the right driver. And he found someone familiar with the platform... He just chose to never call him back. lol

nowhere even close to the same. Same displacement, but different block, head, trans, ecu, etc etc. The caliber uses a 2.4l world engine which loosely shares it's design with the evo x and genesis coupe.

DansSpace 05-08-2014 01:08 AM

I'm only in this thread to lawl @ showing us a 36 mpg average while having bigger injectors. I had a 2005 Legacy GT with 1100cc injectors and my car regularly read well into the 40s for mpgs. Something tells me the computer reads mpgs off of IDCs because I know for damn sure my LGT got somewhere in the low,low 20s, if not teens.

Still a very fast CSRT4 though. Props for that.

rodrigo 05-08-2014 10:36 AM
