11.6 @ 119, 1st USDM MS6 in the 11's

5 years of blood sweat and tears have all been summed up for me in just 11.6 seconds. Ive been with this platform since the VERY beginning and have survived everything it has thrown at me. i couldent be more happy today as i feel like i have finally lived up to my goal.

stock motor, ATP hotside, stock wheels, 26psi, 30% E85, 100% meth.

special thanks to anyone who has ever helped me though an issue, sold parts to me, or was just there to hang out. MSF is my life (sadly haha) and ive made some life long friends here.

Great work man.

I'm really jealous; like greener than your wheels jealous..
Guess the awd advantages really show by making this kind of a run on stock wheels.
Not by any means insinuating that the rest of your car or your driving didnt help the cause of getting a great run.

jracer 11-18-2011 03:01 PM

did charles go also ? how did he do ?
great time man !!

Alpha 11-18-2011 03:01 PM

Wider tire wouldnt help as much as you think. He could muster more 60ft but lose it on the 2nd half of the track. I bet with a 1.65 60ft on wider tires he would run the same et just with lower trap, like 117.

Put it this way. Going from 235s on the rear of my srt to skinnies just in rear I gained 2mph trap. It makes a big difference.

My recommendation is to only go to a 235 so you dont lose much trap. Or if you could even come across some 215-225 studdless snow tires they are siped and made from softer compounds so better 1.6 60fts woudl come. Theres all sorts of lil tricks to making it happen.

Either way great job to Anthony, its great that the first two speeds in the us are both on stock blocks and atp turbos LOL. So much for ATPfail. :wink1:

doubleflusher 11-19-2011 09:58 AM

I don't know man.. I trapped 119.77 on my 18x8.5 +40 with 235/40's on the rear.. I doubt its the reason you gained 2 mph. Its possible but who knows..

LOL whats that have to do with anything I just said. It doesnt mean you wouldnt have gone 121 with skinnies in rear. I know for a fact, I did it in the civic hatch, I did it in my srt and in my delsol. Weight, rotational mass and rolling resistance. It makes complete sense and its the reason they sell them. Ask the mustang and camaro guys, they swear by them and the gains are huge in et. Dont believe me do the research. You trapped the same mph as me on very similar tune and 2-3psi more boost. The only other difference between our cars was you were on 235s in rear and I was on 215s. Its been proven over and over again I dont need to try and convince you. LOL Just trying to help thats all. YOu should know me better than that Austin.

SpeedSixxx 11-20-2011 06:29 AM

the wider the tire the more traction, it would most def help.

the stockers are pathetically small even for AWD...

I dunno why some of you don't think it would help his time much if any, I'd bet money if he threw on 18x8.5 245/40/18's he'd have a much better time.

didn't he mention he was spinning his fronts in 1st or 2nd gear?, that woldnt be the case with wider tires....

taf0422 11-20-2011 06:46 AM

Man you guys. Just enjoy the mans run, not pick apart on how he could make it quicker.

Great job Anthony! Way to go. I love seeing a speed 6 into the 11's! Keep up the good work.

Mistersix 11-20-2011 07:24 AM

awesome time man. very impressive being on street tires and street trim.

are you lookin to out do this? or, are you satisfied? its so close to hitting the 120's.

I would agree usually but he cut a low 1.7 and until you have experienced it for many times over many years its only speculation. When an awd car or even slicks on a fwd car comes out of a spin the car almost sling shots out of it. It crazy feeling and if he would have cut mid 1.8s becuase of spin I would normally agree with this statement but he cut a very good 60ft so going bigger tire isnt gonna help as much as you think, except make him way more consistant at hitting those kind of 60fts or better. I think its really cool that Anthony cut low 1.7s on 215s. Props to him and proof that ms6s shoudnt be underestimated when it comes to the awd comparos. Evos, stis, ms6 and now the volks R

I was pretty disappointed when every damn article on the market compared the Ms6 to legacy gt's, wrx's and even the mitsu lancer rally art... LOL

then they put the speed 3 in articles in comparison to STI's and Evo's,... c'mon now....

w/e, all that shit is stock vs stock comparisons anyway. In the end we all know that the Ms6 being an AWD platform will put down power to the street way better then fwd's..

I'll make a PP bet of 20 bills that a Ms6 will be in the 10's before the 3's.

Decepticon 11-20-2011 09:59 AM

Fucking nice!!! Congrats...thanks for putting the ms6 on top again!!! now i can't wait to get in my car and pretend it's as fast as yours.

Fobio 11-20-2011 10:11 AM

congrats super! and that's a sick, legit and clean run!

with regards to tires...when you look at a contact patch of a 215 vs 235, the total area is similar BUT the skinnier tire will likely have a LONGER contact patch ie. longitudal or length-wise. A bigger contact patch in general is the idea, but if the contact patches' size end up being similar overall, the contact patch that offers more LENGTH should in theory provide better traction...all else being equal.

sorry fob, there is no way a 215 in any scenario would be better then a 245.

I know you mentioned 235 but thats not what was stated.

you take a 600 whp evo and run down the track with 215's then you put on the 245's I'll bet my left nut the 245 tires will have a better time ....

Your partially right. For those who know anything about fast cars David Buschur's 9 sec pump gas DAILY DRIVEN Evo RS is running slicks, duh. But what's more important is that these slicks are not ur typical street car or drag racing setup Hooiser.

In the video below David is using Mickey Thompson MTT-3221's which are a MOTORCYCLE tire. It's not super wide by any stretch of the imagination yet he runs low 9s consistently and traps 150+ because he has both a slick and a tire thats not extremely wide or heavy giving him am advantage on ET and trap.

If anyone doesn't want this video up here I'll take it down. I want this to be about the OP and Mazda's making it into 11s. I'll remove it if it's a distraction I just think it's a great example of not having to run a ridiculously wide tire. Car weight is 2950 with 94oct fuel and a turbo slightly bigger than an HTA35r

Ferg 11-22-2011 09:50 AM

since, the video is here to back up a statement that wider isnt better, i believe its fine. granted this is skaters thread and he has final say what can stay or go. im just excited that the speeds are moving up and proving their worth. now the evo and sti guys will pipe down. the speeds are finally becoming a legitimate race contender, even on the track.

superskaterxes 11-22-2011 10:03 AM

i prob could have cut a low 1.6 if i had slicks/radials. when i first started launching i was spinning first so bad i had to let out of it to even get to second gear. i lowered LC and i was able to hook enough (read still spinning but going forwards). on slicks i would def need the DSS axle but i would be curious to see what some uber light weight 17's and hoosiers could do.........

I'm jealous.... Congrats on the run, it's nice to see the Speed6s finally putting down the worth they're capable of. Especially on a stock block. I'm hoping I will eventually get into the 11s myself. Of course my car has 97k, I don't know if the stock block will hold LOL.

NT01'S OR 555R'S?

NT01's are not drag radials. They're road racing tires.

Nitto makes some really great tire. I had just the Nitto NT05 but DAMMMMN that tire grips. A guy I know running the NT01 says they are some of the best he's used. Great heating cycles and don't grease up.

OP or qtrmile beast if u really wanna do it right as a drag application look into those Mickey Thompsons. I still think the Hooiser QTP's have their place for the Speed 6 though. Just figure if u want the trap or E/T. I'd even look into small brake kits if u wanna really shed that weight lol

doubleflusher 11-23-2011 08:57 AM

The minimum width on the NT05 is 275.

NT555R in 245/45-17 is what I'm running on the street.

WhoIsJeremy 11-23-2011 09:07 AM

Idk what rim size he's using but the NT05s come in 225/40/18. I thinkg Chalres has 19" wheels, but idk the width. Mickey Thompson cheaters are always nice too!

Since you mentioned it, the stock front axles are pretty beefy but if anyone would be interested I can send mine to DSS since they're out of the car for a while. They already make a set for the rear, don't know if we'd even need an upgraded front set or not. Mine are just chillin in the garage for now.

I'm gonna be doing this when my car is done. 10" Willwood small brake kit so I can run some 15" drag wheels.

Idk what rim size he's using but the NT05s come in 225/40/18. I thinkg Chalres has 19" wheels, but idk the width. Mickey Thompson cheaters are always nice too!

I was looking at the NT05R's.

Unless it has the R, it's a poopoo tire

WhoIsJeremy 11-23-2011 09:41 AM

haha looks like these kids need some wider tires

but does the R actually stand for R compound? Maybe some sort of blend of R?

think I'll try those Hancook r-s3s anthony was talking about...

Don't forget Drivers time was at almost 3000 ft asl.

It would be interesting to see what his car is capable of at sea level.
Either way id love to see them do it.
