Bolt on's, E85, 22-23psi. I'm trying to break the stock turbo record whenever it starts cooling down lol. That 12.0 run was a hot/humid night. It sucked.. broke an axle too =/

Those cars seem to hate axles. I believe the turbo on the srt-4's is a bit more stout than our k04.

Thanks man. And idk I think your turbo is better, it's just the gearing for you guys is kinda bad. My brother has an 08 Cobalt SS and his turbo holds 22psi to redline. Mine is at 15 by redline. I'm gonna log and tune tonight so we'll see.

Turbo's aside the cobalt has a smaller displacement engine which is partially why the turbo hold boost better on that application. The Cobalts K04 is also a twin scroll and flows better than the Mazda version.

Yeah I knew the Cobalts were twin scroll. I just don't really know the specs on the Mazda ones. Is there a website with all the specs? Lol Beech Bend is a backwoods track but it is a really nice track!

That's me lol! Plan on getting a boost box soon to help out with top end.. gonna max out the boost box from 4k-6k and see what it does. Trying to break that guy who used to be at Realtune's record of 11.82 @ 116.. he had a 1.6 or low 1.7 60' I think.

I hated the stock turbo when I had my SRT, thing was worthless past 5500rpms.
Then I went S3K so I could hold boost to redline, then decided that wasnt enough, so I went 50trim.
I personally like the k04 more than I did the TD04 on the SRT

I hold 19.5 psi to redline on the stock K04 unless IATs rise over 90*F. Doesn't mean a bigger turbo won't make the car much faster :)

@Orangemamba...dude, my k04 could use to only hold 15 @ RL too. I got an upgraded wg and I can hold boost much better up top. I'm sure you can do the same. I too am lookin to be the first k04 powered mazdaspeed to be running 11s. Gotta wait till Oct to get a cool day though

I have an aftermarket waste gate actuator and I'm not doing external. It's pointless and that record is with a bone stock turbo. I'm sure you will be able to get into the 11's with an awesome tune and 60'. I am gonna go back in September or maybe October, also. I'm gonna try launching off my 2-step but with the Ebrake too instead of just 2-stepping and dumping the clutch lol. People on srtforums said it looks violent when I launch.

The boost box wont really help you hold more to redline. 15psi is like the MAX the stocker will push without being being fully ported turbo housing, intake main, exhaust mani, MIGHT hold a psi or 2 higher then, MIGHT.

The turbo just runs out of breath.

Edit: Also, someone made a good point, if you really want to hold more boost, EWG is the way to go. It will help a little.

Some people have logged 17-18 at redline iirc. I don't want to go external because I'm trying to beat the stock turbo record. Bone stock no port work or anything.

I was tired of FWD, and I could tell the transmission was on its last leg.
The speed 6 reminds me a lot of my SRT, just more "refined" I guess, and more comfortable. Plus its WAY more low profile, which I love haha. The looks on peoples faces when you start pulling away from them, priceless.

Yeah that's what happened to me third gear went after WOT shifting every day back in 09 and beginning of 2010. I just got it fixed a few months ago finally.

Dang what did you trap? I assume that's with the big turbo? Yeah I spin some on slicks too. Next time I'll have BBG looking for a high 1.6 or low 1.7

i know for sure if i could actually hook up and go i could trap higher
and faster. that was my 2nd time out tho, 1st with no fuel cuts..
i was on some bfg drag radials, no burn outs. basically getting a feel for
the track and act clutch. next time i go, i am expecting way better numbers.
maybe not ur time, but def looking to trap 120. lol.

No... Actually it doesn't. I see how all these MS3 owners have their inflated dyno numbers but no track times and for the ones who do, they trap 113 or less from what I've seen only 1 MS3 has trapped 113 and it was a newer gray one. If you guys have all of this power, show everyone then. I don't care too much about dyno numbers because every dyno is different. Track times do the talking and I know each day and track is different but it's closer than what dyno numbers are. And no, it doesn't only rely on power lol it depends on the driver, too.

Lol you say every dyno is different (which I agree) but then you say you trust track times more??

ETs have more variables than dynos, starting with the driver themselves. You can't get an accurate time with a fast car and a shitty driver so why base it on someone's ET?

Tires/traction are another issue.

Trap speeds indicate power.. Which is why I brought up trap speeds.. I trapped 114 on a hot/humid night FWIW

Yeah. MS3 turbos are better than skittle turbos but still haven't seen one trap anywhere near the highest stock turbo skittle's trap... Idk man. I mean srt is a quick car but tranny is shit if you hit a tree doing 40 youll most likely have serious injuries and you gotta roll down your back windows. If i wanted a project fwd turbo car that i could buy for 4g then i would get a srt-4. BUT i like having a decently fast DD with the options the speed3 comes with... the srt-4 doesnt even come with cruise control!!!! lol. It was a fun car when i was young 18-19 years old. The Mrs had one 05 bone stock black and did a 14.0 @ 103. She ended up trading it in.

Yeah haha i posted this for a reason though. There are pro's and cons to every car. I don't mind not having cruise control, it keeps me alert. My trans would have been fine if I didn't wot shift every day. I learned my lesson though. A 14.0 @ 103 is really good for stock. Awesome trap! I'm in Clarksville, TN.

Yea the trap is good for stock. She hit 102 like 4-5x then the last one 103. But getting gearing in the srt-4 as well we need to shift 5x in the 1/4mile(or hold out 4th) while you shift into 4th around 100mph. The motor in the srt-4 is crazy realiable but everything else is so so. My close friend was basically stock with a couple mods and was having tranny issues and the Mrs was too before she got rid of it. I will say that the stock clutch is stupid easy to drive. I learned standard in a srt-4 haha

Seems to me like he just wants attention. If the guy came here looking for a run thats one thing but other than that you should take in the sites then be on your way.

I learned standard on the SRT too haha. Bough it, didnt know how to drive stick, learned real quick on the 45 minute drive home from the dealer lol

Dang I by understand how the transmission went out.. I mean I used to WOT shift every day because I thought it was fun and it still took awhile for it to go. Yeah our gearing is better than the MS3's and the Cobalt's gearing is really good. Yeah the stock clutch wasn't bad at all. Lol I learned on a Cavalier :/
