I mean this setup is obviously working for you! I was just curious. I still haven't had a chance to try out my slicks yet, but I need every bit of height I can possibly get with this setup, so I can ride out 4th.

makes me want to sell the 15"rims and spacers to try the 17s out

Those look like a decent option for pretty much bolt up slick setup. May not be a whole lot of sidewall but I'm sure will do the trick.

With an MS6 - stock clutch, Has anyone used the handbrake to pre-load the drivetrain before launching?

What are you guys doing about springrates for the rear?

p.s. who's launching in 2nd?

A 27" definitely will not fit on a Gen1. Found out the hard way that my 26's wouldn't even fit without rubbing the bumper if I turned the wheel even a little bit. Hence me running at ENM with no front bumper.

What were you running?

26x8.5x15 M&H Racemasters with the vision wheels on 25mm spacers.

I adjusted the front height all over the place and that didn't matter at all. As so as I would turn in some, hit the font bumper. Gotta modify it somehow so I can start running with my bumper on.

Are you lower then stock?

Nope, and I even went up quite a bit higher than stock to test, but it really wasn't the height that was the problem.

Rain on my parade...

I know the M&H RM have a:

8.3" Tread W
10.5" Section W
26" diameter

Where the hoosier's I was looking at 27/10.5 - 15

9" Tread W
10.1" SW
27" diameter.

Current 245/40/18

9.1" TW
9.8" SW
25.8" diameter

I figured there may be a chance. Guess I'll just do regular qtp and 16" rim. Sigh.

I'll be trying to set them on a smaller spacer first to see if that clears it up. I'll let you know once I try it.

Yeah biggest thing is not to get a wheel that pokes so much...but hard to fit a 15" wheel on the front.

for the guys running slicks... what are you guys setting LC at if at all? i have a set of 26x10.50x15 MT streets ready to go. previous owner (only made 2 passes on them) was dumping the clutch in the 5-6k range to keep from bogging down. suggestions on where to start?

5250 and go up/down by 100 rpm depending on track conditions, until you find the sweet spot.

Have you test fit them yet? Could you post pix of them on the car when you get a chance please, that's some serious tire.

The reason those ET Streets fit so well is because actual tread width is only 8.3" measuring according to the MT site, section width is 10.5" huge difference. They're fitting very similar to the MT ET Drag of 26x8.5x15 because the actual tread width is only 0.2" different at 8.3" tread width.

AlsChopShop 05-11-2014 12:23 AM

interesting. i just put a tape across the tread and came up with ~8.5". gotta love inconsistency of tire measurements, even within the same manufacturer.

My 2 cents .... Fuck drag radials and fuck 16 diameter QTPs

Get at least a 26 tall tire on a 15 .... This is drag racing , sidewall height > tire width

M&H 26x8.5x15 are worth .100-.150 on the 60 FT alone over it's QTP 16 inch wheel counterpart ..... We were cutting low 1.7s at a no prep track with 330-340whp on a 28xx ms3 .... To me shaving calipers is WELL worth what u get in return .... More consistent and better launches

This is Julio (JCMS07) on m&h at Fontana which is an absolute horror to launch on since prepping isn't on the budget .... Car on this pass was mid 2800s lbs and around 330-340whp .... No LC ... No FFS program ... Just hold rpm on launch and powershift the fucker old skool

dtrackstar 06-14-2014 07:11 AM

Anyone running QTPs on an MS6?
