I can haz 13.4 now??? or wtf

well, when an axe (it can be spelled ax also...fuck u !!) don't work use a fucken chainsaw.....

I got the Hoosiers on the car for about 10 miles, did a couple of light burnouts to scuff them and a couple of half ass launches, I am unsure how january 8th will go because the car is nothing like before on launch , it's a lot softer down low with the 3071r (untuned) so there has to be a lot of trial and error and I just don't get enough passes to get my practice up.

So the plan for now is to run the street slicks at first on 24-25psi just to get used to the turbo , eventually I know these fuckers will end up at 10-12psi but I need to re learn to drag race and I am not going to do it half way in the middle of the lesson....

I drove them around 24.5 psi on the street and afer they were up to temperature I couldn't get 1st to spin from a roll, so they work decently and at that psi will be able to give me an honest comparison of mph between the ko4 and the 3071r (untuned) , if I get the flat foot shifting dialed in on ATR right hopefully I can see 110-111mph compared to my best of 107mph... eventually when the EBC and map is dialed in to net me 350whp I hope a 113-114mph with a 4k launch should be more than doable .

Well , enough for now...here s some pics of them on the car today.

Fuckin' epic! Can't wait to see what sort of results you'll get. Launching these big turbo cars is a bitch.

Oh, I still want those center caps... Lenny... Where can I get those so I can hook the NATOR MO guys up with them.

pm cornerfreak.

im not a vendor man....im just a lovable teddy bear.. ask socks

and yes, launching this car now is stupid hard.... i either super bog it and get smoked by a fucken moped or I go in too hard and i spin still.... this is why I am not going to rush it...I have now 2 variables to learn.... the BT with lower tq down low and higher hp on top and the slicks that anything less than 4k will bog....

socks 12-26-2010 04:45 PM

not only that, but you have a clutch that doesnt give you much option for in between.

oh yea... big teddy bear.

lenny, just sell the ms3, buy a genesis. then you can face the facts that you cant beat a moped.

when theres no hope, theres no dissappointment.

phillyb 12-26-2010 04:48 PM

if he buys a genesis, will you promise to show him how to miss gears?

rodrigo 12-26-2010 04:51 PM

hahahahahah...... i bet when sean bought that car he was like..... "genesis... a new beginning....I like it, thats for me!!!"

and yeah i forgot, new clutch.... seriously I did a couple of 0-60 launches with dh to see and omg... im like a second slower hahahahahhahahah

/in b4 15 sec BT, fully bolted, clutched, slicks ms3 fail

oh ya.... nothing says badassmothafukka like running wrinkle walls on the street haha

man i had hopes and dreams when i got the stupid drag radials (nittos) and well u saw the epic pwnage the track did to me.... so I have to be humble and repsectful enough that a) the game isnt the same as how I knew it and b) my car now is a completely different vehicle than 2 months ago.

so, baby steps...... the truth of the matter is that I shouldn't be practitcing on the slicks, I should re learn to drive the new turbo from a launching before trying to incorporate what sort of used to work before..... cuz like wilkins said...its harder than a motherfucker to get a spot on launch now.

either way rule #1 hasnt changed...and i tell this to everyone that gets into drag racing, the most important goal u can set yourself is to improve the times from last time , the rest is time and practice.

Thanks Lenny, I have some 16x7 wheels and might need wider ones.

What is the widest tire size I can run on 16x7, how about 16x7.5 ?

rodrigo 12-26-2010 07:38 PM

depends on the tire.... but i would get at least 7.5 wide wheels....and at LEAST the tires I got (hoosiers quick time pro 26 x 9.5 x 16) because anything less with your power u might as well put on mud tires and go drag racing in the rain.

What tire size do you recommend to run on the street? 245-50-16 or 255-50-16?

rodrigo 12-26-2010 10:18 PM

on the street as in regular tires or drag radials???

I dont think there are too many drag radials out there for us... nittos 245-50-16 and not much else.

if its gonna be a regular street tire why would u wanna run em on 16s?

oh and here s the sales pitch, I have a set of basically new nittos for sale if u or anyone u know is interested....cuz at the track they are worthless

rodrigo 12-27-2010 05:47 PM

roy...if it makes u feel better shawn fucken spun out in the rain and crashed his ms3......

rodrigo 01-01-2011 08:15 PM

well , change of plans for me. the car powerwise is not ready for any record breaking runs lol ,......definitely makes more power than before, but the reality is that because of a few different priorities I have not spent any time practicing launches and this turbo is alot trickier to launch than the ko4. i either bog it or spin so much the car sits still for a second....I broke in the slicks but havent really practiced.

i am still going to go to the track and still am going to go run with slicks, but since the last time I went I have decided on a few things that I wont deviate from.

1) I wont do more than 1 run per 2-2.5hrs, last time I burned up my clutch and started developing a leak ....pushing the car too hard.
2) hate away, but I am first going to set a baseline mph so I know what I have to work with....this means I am not going to pay attention to ET, I will probably run the slicks at 20-24psi , spin em some and try to see what kind of a trap I can achieve.... I am going for 112mph.... (last time and best time was 107.5mph) so I am hoping I can reach this goal right now before I move on to the next step.
3) ill do a burnout but I am not going to fry my clutch trying to get max grip

well, this is my first step.....most of the "racing" I engage in is on the street, so for me street performance is more important than race performance. once i set a baseline mph I get consistently I will then start like I did so many years ago........... 60ft 60ft 60ft 60ft............the rest of the track doesnt exist, reality is that the launch is everything and that is what I will be working on after mph, even if they are just 330ft runs only and I coast the rest..

there are quite a few things that are not ready with the car and myself so I am not going into this track meet guns blazing, i have my plan and im sticking to it....I also need to get side mounts because I tried to get a good launch today by short shifting first and it was a nightmare of hop, i need to see what the options are.

anyways, lets go jan 8th guys!!

socks 01-01-2011 08:19 PM

I thought there was a 15-25% off coupon for ordering through cp-e?

that'd bring them under $400 for both mounts. not a bad deal.

what coupon?

I talked to him on friday. It's not too bad considering how fast he was going. Front fenders and bumper are tweaked a bit. The front wheels are cocked to the right. Some suspension is fucked, but no engine damage. It's in the shop now. He should have it back in a few weeks. Insurance covered it all.

superskaterxes 01-02-2011 02:16 PM

ive been told CPE will have a winter sale with 25% off again lenny, wait for that in the coming weeks.

i also cant believe your going to the track with no mounts, in for darkys response to this haha

slicks cushion the hopping more than hockey pucks..... plus im not retarded , I never stay on it when it hops bad...that just goes along with morons that dont know how to properly use their vehicle.

not trying to get out of trying for 12s, but seriously my only intent is to trap a 112mph..... the rest seriously will wait until I am ready with mounts, proper practice and a proper tune. remember more than likely i will get 3-4 runs tops, hardly any time to practice. but i might make the trip to balersfield after this saturday to show u guys the difference between fast vs slow tracks... differences of 3-4mph and up to .5 seconds off the ET.

but for now...traps traps traps.... remember guys ....stage 2 meth and fully bolted my car ran fastest of 107.5 mph ... and that is hardly impressive, while my BT will certainly add a few mph to the mix its not going to do what others do, nor do i care.

this is just about progress on the old silver that could (nt) .... we cannot all be stupid fast, some of us have to be mildly fast lol

That sale should bring all 3 mounts to about $420, not bad. Going to the track with no mounts is a bad idea, I got so much wheel hop last time I went.

rodrigo 01-02-2011 03:38 PM

well u guys assume this track has enough traction to hop lol.....

im thinking about the mounts, its just alot of money that i need to stop spending and also it makes the car unbearable, and its not the vibes it the noise from the clutch....idk ill see what options i have, i really just need to inject the stock mounts and call it a day.... in the end the reason why shit brakes its because it allowed to rock back and forth within the mount and the crevices between the rubber....once those spots are filled the metal aint gonna break.

socks 01-02-2011 04:16 PM

lenny, the stock passenger motor mount is a hydraulic mount. its fluid filled. you cant fill it with epoxy or urethane.

The trans mount you can. But its not the best solution, thats what i did, and it definately needed new mounts.

07ms3obrien 01-02-2011 05:38 PM

Since you got slicks before mounts which was a bad idea, u should get a good clutch before mounts...

Or maybe mounts and a clutch...credit card time lol

rodrigo 01-02-2011 09:14 PM

i appreciate the advice guys, i bought some of this http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawe...SevTSeSSSSSS--

and will proceed to fill the tranny mount. (im aware the passenger cannot be filled , and will not do shit to it)

thats all for now, try to keep in mind im not competing with the other heavy hitters and their 400+ whp cars, when I bought this car all I wanted was a solid mid 13 second street ride with 105mph trap.

what i do from this point on is more to have something that keeps up with the top performance cars (not the exotics)

also , slicks aside I want my car to be 100% identical on/off track, this is my daily driver and will stay in that form.

Design 01-02-2011 09:43 PM

Good luck man. There have been a couple of guys pulling high 12's with just an intake, RMM and DRs. So I think you're doing right by focusing on 60'.

rodrigo 01-02-2011 09:53 PM

wow, i would love to see an ms3 with an intake and a rmm run 12s with drag radials or slicks.

Dash08 01-02-2011 11:12 PM

Lenn, if you don't want to fuck with the passenger mount, but would still prefer something slightly firmer than stock, why don't you look into the Top Speed mount?

It's a good mount that retains the factory design only with a slightly more robust insert.

It might help and it's pretty reasonable. Look into it.

rodrigo 01-03-2011 01:17 AM

i did, and this seems reasonable. i will inject the urethane on the stock tmm and might buy the awr pmm

thanks

oh i c , talkign smak..... we gonna have to do some sushi roll racing for the 95% of the members here (since they never heard of drag racing lol)

well i am gonna run the slicks, but i intend to run em at 25psi or so to get decent traps.... at that psi i can still probably hook in 2nd gear so I should be able to smoke u....

then again, everytime we go we get pwned for a number of reasons.... so im shooting for 14.5 at 98mph!!!!

u guys can quote me on this...... 13.4 @112 that is my goal for saturday. anything quicker and or faster and Ill be more than happy. (once i extablish repeatable traps then ill worry about ET)

thread title updated

zx2man 01-08-2011 11:02 PM

hmmmmm okies

running slicks check
zero hop check

so far so good...whats the prablem...your running all stock mounts besides rear mount, Well no doubt if you were running the passenger&tranny mount you be golden, but you should have still done respectable...No? I know that answer isnt good by the sounds of things, but I gotta ask.

*edit* and besides 3071 mafia sticks together big fella ;)

rodrigo 01-08-2011 11:04 PM

^ lol

and for rear mount i have trz rmm.

i injected the tranny one but i dont think that shit cured inside and its still gooey so w/e..... zero hop at the track....zero! that is the single thing that went right...my launches improved a ton... unfortunately both the car and myself arent ready to match it..... with the lame trap i had and a 2.0 60ft i could have cut a 13.0 ..... that difference of .4 seconds is MY fail as a driver ..... the rest...idk...power just isnt there or i am not utilizing it correctly.

but.... i did guess that i would run a 13.4 .... but 110 lol.... 1/2 right

there are a couple of videos....we ll post em as soon as i figure out who has em

zx2man 01-08-2011 11:12 PM

Well live to fight another day man...your setup is getting there..looking good..you have made alot of changes recently. I would suppose more time at the strip and get your mounts squared away, should be fine.

lol car spools to full boost by 3300 if i want it to.....(believe me with the mbc this turbo spools as quick as a small turbo...go take a look at my logs and u will see)

i spent the last hour fast shifting and half powershifting 2-3 i got it enough to hold 8lbs of boost between gears, I need to keep practicing and bring that up to closer to 15-17lbs at least ,once that is down the 8th mph will go up 2-3mph and then ill work on the rest

Lenny I'm thinking mounts to reduce motor movement, shifter bushings to reduce shifter slop, and an STS to reduce throw distance (I think the SSPs increase throw effort too much)

Whose is the other silver 3? Looks like he had a 108 trap in the second race.

Maybe switch the drivers?

This coming from a lifetime bench racer, so abuse accordingly.

how the fuck did u take that one panoramic picture?? when i left tech??

lenny, me thinks you should get a etune from dustin. he can discern real knock from noise, and maybe get your timing right up there. im fairly certain he was in on alot of the recent developments with the knock tables.

dont forget, for the longest time these cars have been tuned with the knock sensors being ignored after 5700rpms. now that we're able to "turn them on" over 5700, we're going to have to find the right sensitivity, between real knock readings, and false readings/noise.

rodrigo 01-09-2011 05:56 PM

dustin be da man?

hahah ya that sounds like a good idea
