I may give that a shot too then. I recently switched to the twm full replacement shifter too but havent been able to bang any gears with that installed either because of the snow up here.

A little tip about ssp kits. They shorten the throw (obviously lol) but in doing so it doesn't give the synchro enough time to slow down the next gear. So it locks you out occasionally. Keeping the stock length or even making it slightly longer will pretty much never lock you out :)

Something I've also noticed. Although counter-intuitive with a shifter extension you can shift very quickly and accurately without lock-out and less chance of missing the gear.

You'll have to battle @kritz; for that one.

kritz 12-31-2013 07:03 PM

Meh, @h.h.sk1nny; you have awd not that it will matter.

h.h.sk1nny 12-31-2013 07:40 PM

Not my problem. Either way, I been waiting to see someone rock an 11 sec pass and shut all the doubters up

Voltron 12-31-2013 08:04 PM

Kritz will hit 11s on k04 no doubt about it.
If there were to be a person I'd want to line up that were mod for mod with me, it would be him.

Plus you have wiggle room in your 60ft :)

kritz 12-31-2013 09:03 PM

Yup 2.0 60' killed me this year. shooting for the 1.7-1.8

A 1.7 is already 11s for you! That is my goal for this year as well. Get that 60 ft and 1-2 shift down and let the rest fall into place.

Not trying to set any records though. Just here to have fun :)

Its all about milestones and motivating each other to go faster and drive harder.

Wait, is that called being competitive?

That is how it works, otherwise we would still be running on Standbacks. Through competition the breed improves. It is just that this particular platform is small compared to Honda,Subie or those fags and their Mitsubiches lol.

@Realgib3;, I know my car only makes half of the power yours does currently but I'm on the stock shift plate, no shifter weight and a light weight knob. It's takes some practice to get used to flicking shifts in but you're more than welcome to try banging through the gears any time. So smooth with just a little bit of a notchy feel when the gears click in through the synchros.

I'd love to! Just gotta wait till it's a little warmer than -10* outside. This weather is stupid.

pmartz16 01-07-2014 10:42 AM

I am on the same setup. The corksport SSP and weight I had wouldn't let me into 3rd at highish rpm so I took it off now I never miss. I heard it could be rough on my syncos but we will see. Mark let me know when you switch to the engine bay tank as I may buy your current setup. Rather it stay local. Unless someone else has dibs already

My bitch is up and running. 120 miles on motor, with a base startup map and it feels like she wants to scoot.
