Default Looked but couldn't find it...

anyone over 120 MPH in the 1/4 mile yet? I have been on the 3 different sites but no one seem to be to 120 MPH yet with the direct injection motor. What gives with this? No one into the 11's yet either? I know that a ton of you autocross your car but damn I would have figured that after 2 + years someone would have been running quicker or have a higher MPH then the 112 that I can find. Wow!

Understood. I suspect that a lot is still landing on the DI system and cyl pressures... thats another post.

The Caliber market, Cobalt and Neon market were slow to get off the ground but there was always that one fool that made it happen. I am surprised that we don't have that one fool among us. Hell if a shop could make it happen that would speak volumes for that "one" shop.

Alot of that is driver skill. What I am looking for is some good MPH. MPH shows the power the car is making vs ET which is a lot of driver.

I would think that how many units were made (specially the first year) and that Mazda (while it has a strong road race backrground) doesnt seem to have too much drag racing force behind could account for most of that. Compare how many civics have blown way passed those markers and ask yourself how come........ more popular thats all, just like when the 5.0 craze hit.

True and that is why I see more on the road course then the drag strip. Either way you have figured that by now someone would be running into the 120 MPH mark. I mean hell the Caliber has only been on the streets for 4 months and they are already at 125 MPH and sub 11's second passes.

IMHO a higher trap will just mean your another guy who has money and a fast car but a lower et will mean you get the most out of your car and you can actually handle all that power

Well you guys may feel trap speed is the sign of horsepower... but the lowest Et gets you the money and sponsorships. MPH will also fuck you when bracket racing.

That is why the drivers get paid the big money. Anyone can build a car with the right amount of money, not everyone can drive a car.

MPH equates to HP, ET equates to driver/vehicle set up. If your going to braket race you had better have consistant 60ft's. If not you will be brake checking the other guy at the line.

I think its gonna be a while until the name Mazda is a household brand in drag racing. The MS3 finally brought some real performance to the market and made a name for itself, I dont think its coincidence that the 2 year only run for the mazdaspeed line was broken by this model. This is a well balanced car that has some decent performance all around, but guys looking to dedicate themselves to having a drag race car probably would never buy a Mazda...at least not yet and at least not many. I have a 2 decade drag racing backround but I was thinking practical fun when I bough this car but over the last year I see that it could make a respectable street/strip toy. (except for this god damn first gear that I despise)

Lenny, we have a lot in common and feel the same way about the MS3. If all goes well for me this year I will have the car into the 120 MPH range. We are a very long way out from this but if all goes well..... someone will be into the low 12's and running very high trap speeds.

I cant help but wonder what AMS Perfomance would have done with the car had Tru-boost not acted like a bitch when they scratched his shifter knob and took his car out of their hands. shortly after that they told the ms3 market to suck a dick.

a scratched shifter knob... seriously

I do hope your kidding. AMS could have lost my shift knob. Fuck AMS could have lost my shifter and i would have been small peanuts, compared to what they can do.

a scratched shifter knob... seriously
LOL at this comment.

It would have been nice to have them put $50k into the car. I am sure that they would have found the problems much quicker the the group we have working on the car now.

With all that said we have a few good vendors here working on the problems. As time moves forward I suspect that we will see several in the 12's next year if not the 11's. The main problems were good mounts and properly built motors with the fuel to feed them. Now that we have cars in the 400 WHP range the next step is easy, get them on the track with mounts that can take the abuse, only time will tell what happens here but I can tell you that we are not going to sit around on our hands and wait for it to happen.

That will be a nice thing to see, we need another 20 like you to really get some interested people in this car. I hope to see you running that first of March.
