Civic Si owners believe that since a MS3 lost to a Si that the MS3 isn't much faster than the Si.

In reality, it is evident that the MS3's driver sucked ass when it came to launching and driving his car, hence, even though his car was probably faster, he lost, end of story. Si owners shouldn't be getting hard-ons over their cars because of this.

lolz, the Si owner really thinks he was quicker when the others say the ms3 driver really sucked... which, he did... 2.5 60ft? damn...

Funny thing is, if the MS3 had run the same 60' as the Si, he still would have lost (both times).

The MS3 driver was possibly shifting at redline, and shifting like my grandmother too lol.

It is puzzling to me why you post this type of shit here. There are threads all over this site with valid proof of stock MS3's running the same time as the Si did - with full bolt-ons and a tune. Proof of MS3's running low 13's with just an intake and tune. A Si beats a MS3 and all of a sudden, our cars aren't "all they're cracked up to be"?

There are a lot of factors on different tracks on different days. What you got here was two cars on the same track on the same day, head to head.

LOL, that settles it, the SI is a faster car than the MS3. Driver skills or the current condition of their cars couldn't have anything to do with the results? Both cars were running in the 14's, so really I don't even see the point of posting this here (it was perfectly fine for the guy on the Honda forum). We've seen proof a stock MS3 running a 13.9 on good weather day. Put a bad driver in that very same car on that very same run and it may well have ran a 14.5. We are always going to defend what we drive, and that's understandable, but why come on here posting this pointless drivel and fire up yet another a useless conversation?

Holy fuck...........Fuck a civic SI..............fully bolted can barely keep up with a stock MS3. The fact is its a forced induction engine vs a naturally aspirated engine. We have an 8th Gen Si that moved into our neighborhood a few weeks back. Copper coupe with a shitty CF hood that doesn't fit right, fart can, and aftermarket wheels (which actually look pretty good on it). Lots of stickers. I'm waiting for him to rev at me to see if I hear a BOV before biting. :)

This run is a 13.79, and his best run that day was a 13.73. His mods are only SRI with TIP. This is my friend's car, and yes, he is in the forums too.

Hydrolocking is a different issue entirely. Civics do not fail at anywhere near the rate of MS3s. Show me anything like the MS3 Blown Engine Resource Thread in the 8th Civic community; show me an MS3 making over 550whp on stock internals with no meth, and I will change my opinion.

Maybe be quick but won't last long, my friend has 97 hatch and he did a k20 swap and turbo it with a garret super 60 over the winter. He had 450hp and it last him 3 weekends of driving before he put a hole in the block. So much for the 11 grand swap.

I hate pissing matches..its not my style...Before my speed..I had a 2007 si sedan..I liked it..was awesome car...and with bolts these cars can put up decent numbers..What I cant stand is the lack of mutual respect and understanding of both cars, and you just get people who judge the car off a driver who couldnt drive that car...anyways blah blah..I challenged him to a race..I offered to pay for some of his gas money and 50% hotel expenses if he can make it within a few hundred miles of where I live. i got my SI for 19k OTD (minus another 8k for my trade) after tax/title/reg/dest...

the MS3 is 24k base, runs a 0-60 in 5.6 sec and 14.1sec 1/4 mile (give or take)... that's 2 grand more at least...

vw gti? 24k+ easy, and is basically = to the SI in 0-60 and 1/4 times

WRX? sure it's fast as hell, and it's also 24k+ minimum...

so again, define "price range" to me, anything that is $2000 increase from a 22k base of the SI is a little more than a 9% increase in overall price, that's a lot... and that's before taxes set in, probably about 10% once taxes are all said and done...

also, in my area at least (again, can't speak for everybody) i got my SI down to 19k OTD... the lowest i could get the mazda was 21k, wrx was 23k (but the dealer is a jerk) and the GTI was no less than 25k+ (they love to put on dealer installed price inflating options on all their gtis...)

so anyways... it all depends on your "price range"... dropping that 2k into an SI for I/H/E/FP and a tune (under 2200 total for my setup of good parts and a tune) puts the SI right in range with the MS3, better than the GTI (wrx still stomps, but is expensive, and sh*t interior)...

yes i rambled, but again... saying the SI is slower than anything in it's pricerange isn't correct unless you consider +/- 10% cost (2k+) the same "price range" but then i can say why not spend another 2k+ and get a used STI"

THe Honda SI was tuned, that makes a huge difference... You might eat up up every single Gen 8 SI you've come accross, but, a stock MS3 vs. a bolted tuned SI is a very close race. NO suprise if the MS3 lost....THe SI is lighter and is easier to launch... If the race is from a 40 roll the outcome goes to the MS3...

You'd tear him up.. From a dig he will take off and you'll be passing by the time you hit third..By fourth the SI will be fading quickly... SI fully bolted and tuned is getting 200ft of torque.. Common now, they might be quiicker off the line, but they don't have the torque or top end speed to keep up.

The MS3 is significantly faster than the Si in virtually every setting, has better interior, has a lot more interior room, has better handling, and barely costs a grand more than the Si. They are most certainly in the same price bracket. The only argument in favor of the Si is a purely subjective one - "I like how it looks."

I went from Si to MS3, then to S2000 and back to Si (cut costs) before buying a 2010 MS3.

Imagine waiting until 5800 rpm's for our turbo to spool, and when it does spool, imagine it only pushing 2-3 psi, that is V-tech.

Did anyone notice that even though the times for the MS3 were consistently much slower, it still ran a higher trap speed, lol. Once, he ran a 14.73, then a 14.45. He had 2.5 60' times. When I took my 483rwtq Cobra to the track, and finally beat the crap out of it running 11.8-12.0 @ 117 on drag radials long enough, it killed the clutch, broke the rear diff cover, and ruined the ring and pinion. The first thing that popped into my head wasn't, "well, I guess I shouldn't have so much torque in this car because it's starting to break things." You can only launch a car at 4500 RPMs and pull 1.6 60' times for so long before something lets go. Did someone chop your balls off?
If you drive your car the way that these cars were meant to be driven, things will break. I haven't taken my MS3 to the track yet, but when I start, I bet you that I will break it at some point. If not, I'm probably not racing very well. If the MS3 only had 10 ft/lbs. of torque like the Si does, I'm sure that it would be much more reliable. :tool:

well, i don't have a speed 3 or a civic si, but i know much about both cars and have worked on both cars and i can tell you my honest opinion, and yes im gonna use ricer examples frumaroll.

this is what i've seen happen with stock ms3 vs si with intake, both drivers can drive pretty well, the si driver was powershifting(flat foot shifting), the speed 3 driving was just speed shifting.

10 roll, civic gets SMASHED
25 roll, (both first gear), Si jumped half car since no boost lag, stayed like that until about 85 mph, then the speed 3 started to creep by, so by 110 the speed was ahead half car.

Now given if the speed 3 had an intake, im sure the outcome would of been a lot more in favor for the speed but who cares lol.

a civic si with i/h/e flashpro and tune i think is a pretty solid race vs a ms3 with intake and test pipe MS3 probably still edging out the civic after like 110 mph.

but the beauty about the SI is that you can get 30 mpg, yes its a 2.0 liter with no torque, but still 30 mpg, and after 6k rpm u can keep up with speed 3's, and not have to worry about any engine failure.

six6...this isn't really the place for a beginner course in the mechanics or efficiency ranges of the KO4 turbo on the stock tune, but just for you to reference:

1st gear + 25 mph in the ms3 = a hair under 5k rpm
2nd gear +25 mph in the ms3 = 3k rpm

Not sure what you think it takes for our turbo to spool?

When I had my Si, I accepted it for what it was - a 15 second car. Yea yea, you can make it faster, but bolt-on for bolt-on, the MS3 is going to pull away ever increasingly faster. Example? MS3 CAI = 25 whp, Si CAI = 10 whp.
