SI is about 22k base without navi, does 0-60 in about 6.7 seconds and 1/4 in 14.9-15.3sec or so... i got my SI for 19k OTD (minus another 8k for my trade) after tax/title/reg/dest... the MS3 is 24k base, runs a 0-60 in 5.6 sec and 14.1sec 1/4 mile (give or take)... that's 2 grand more at least... vw gti? 24k+ easy, and is basically = to the SI in 0-60 and 1/4 times WRX? sure it's fast as hell, and it's also 24k+ minimum... so again, define "price range" to me, anything that is $2000 increase from a 22k base of the SI is a little more than a 9% increase in overall price, that's a lot... and that's before taxes set in, probably about 10% once taxes are all said and done... also, in my area at least (again, can't speak for everybody) i got my SI down to 19k OTD... the lowest i could get the mazda was 21k, wrx was 23k (but the dealer is a jerk) and the GTI was no less than 25k+ (they love to put on dealer installed price inflating options on all their gtis...) so anyways... it all depends on your "price range"... dropping that 2k into an SI for I/H/E/FP and a tune (under 2200 total for my setup of good parts and a tune) puts the SI right in range with the MS3, better than the GTI (wrx still stomps, but is expensive, and sh*t interior)... yes i rambled, but again... saying the SI is slower than anything in it's pricerange isn't correct unless you consider +/- 10% cost (2k+) the same "price range" but then i can say why not spend another 2k+ and get a used STI" ... he thinks we aren't in the price range?... haha, i'm having so much fun reading the Si forums, i don't think a bolted NA car will come near us stock still... it needs to make up 60hp and magically create torque, that's kinda hard

They are most certainly in the same price bracket. The only argument in favor of the Si is a purely subjective one - "I like how it looks." I went from Si to MS3, then to S2000 and back to Si (cut costs) before buying a 2010 MS3. MS3 > Si Imagine waiting until 5800 rpm's for our turbo to spool, and when it does spool, imagine it only pushing 2-3 psi, that is V-tech.

He had 2.5 60' times. Why the hell would you even brag about beating someone that was that bad of a driver? Whatever dude, SI stands for Slow Indeed.

If you drive your car the way that these cars were meant to be driven, things will break. I haven't taken my MS3 to the track yet, but when I start, I bet you that I will break it at some point. If not, I'm probably not racing very well. If the MS3 only had 10 ft/lbs. of torque like the Si does, I'm sure that it would be much more reliable. ![]() Sorry to all the regulars for the rant.

| Not Ranked : 0 score well, i don't have a speed 3 or a civic si, but i know much about both cars and have worked on both cars and i can tell you my honest opinion, and yes im gonna use ricer examples frumaroll. this is what i've seen happen with stock ms3 vs si with intake, both drivers can drive pretty well, the si driver was powershifting(flat foot shifting), the speed 3 driving was just speed shifting. 10 roll, civic gets SMASHED 25 roll, (both first gear), Si jumped half car since no boost lag, stayed like that until about 85 mph, then the speed 3 started to creep by, so by 110 the speed was ahead half car. Now given if the speed 3 had an intake, im sure the outcome would of been a lot more in favor for the speed but who cares lol. a civic si with i/h/e flashpro and tune i think is a pretty solid race vs a ms3 with intake and test pipe MS3 probably still edging out the civic after like 110 mph. but the beauty about the SI is that you can get 30 mpg, yes its a 2.0 liter with no torque, but still 30 mpg, and after 6k rpm u can keep up with speed 3's, and not have to worry about any engine failure. people who say the SI is a total piece of shit and not a sports car, you're an uneducated tool. people who say the MS3 is a pile of shit and the si outperforms it stock vs stock, are also uneducated tools. people who say the COBALT SS are a pile of shit, just a fast pile of shit...are completely right :-D |
