The 135i has nothing to do with this topic, its just the car i own. and maybe i did get it because i couldn't afford the 335i...whats it to you? maybe i got it because its a lot lighter and i dont need a big ass 335i through the streets of chicago.

And your not understanding my point eskareon, its not like i saw one speed 3 blow up and then came to the conclusion that all of them blow. its the multiple occasions of the 2.3 disi motors blowing up, leaking turbo seals and so on. My buddies 09 speed 3 has about 15 k miles (the same one that raced the civic si) has been to the dealership a couple times for the insane amount of smoke coming from the exhaust when hes idleing, they blamed his short ram intake, and nothing got covered.

on a side note, i remember reading a thread on here that an s2000 is pretty much even with a stock speed, and people seemed to agree. But did u miss the point that a civic with bolt ons is about even with an s2000? mainly do to the civics 4.77 final drive stock.

Just about every forum has its ricers. The problem is that ricers are much louder than people with common sense, especially online. I came from 8thCiv too. I still like the 8thCiv i had and the car in general. I by no means believe the car is god like. I don't think any car is.

go to any performance forum and you will always see threads of people blowing their motors. the 135i is not a tuner car, and does not have the aftermarket demand that speeds/subies/evos/srts have.

how many pocket rockets before the MZR were DI? i cant really think of any, so the MS community is really in uncharted water. its not suprising when something goes wrong and the technology is new. A majority of the tuning knowledge no longer applies. but you knew all that right?

2 things...

1. The 135 is 130lbs lighter than the 335. Thats not "a lot lighter".

2. You said you were looking at a NEW 2010 MS3, so why do you keep referencing older models issues? You pulled the warranty card about the fuel pump in the BMW, but if you bought a 2010 MS3 it would have a warranty too. If you mod your 135, they will not fix your car either.

It sounds like you are in love with civics, so maybe you should have bought one of them.

Off topic, I was behind a 2 door civic (unknown suspension mods but it was lowered with wheels) on a circle on ramp the other day. He was trying to go fast and lose me but I stayed glued to him until his rear end came loose and he almost slammed a guardrail. Superior handling FTW!!

Who said the Mazdaspeed 3 is a tuner car? Argument works equally against you.

For your blown motor paranoia, refer to a great quip: "The plural of anecdote is not data." You are still coming to a very unscientific conclusion. It doesn't matter if you've personally seen 10 MS3s explode with 'minimal' mods. Unless you have a good data set, you're still jumping to conclusions based on your minimal experience.

Everyone has this tendency, though. What's important is that we recognize that we are inherently subjective first, objective second, and we pull back from the situation and reassess our assumptions based on "the big picture."

That said, the MS3 blown engine resource thread is just that - a consolidation of blown engines. It makes it easier to feel like there's a lot of them, because we've compiled a thread about them. You'd see a lot more over in the Subaru or Mitsubishi forums if they actually consolidated them all. But I daresay you wouldn't see that and have the same paranoia as members here do over the MS3, because Subi/Mitsu reputation subjectively downplays it. Etc.

out of all those links u posted, none of em were legit. one guy leaned out while using nitrous, the other guy was turboed and wasn't tuned properly, another guy was goin 120 mph constantly for a couple minutes at redline in 5th gear, (his motor didn't blow, he just thinks it blew) one of them was obviously a factory defect.

The Civic SI isn't even in the same ballpark period.

It was neat about 4-5 years ago, not anymore.

I've owned both 07' Civic SI and 08' MS3 and to say the SI is even remotely "close" is just plain ignorance.

You’d need at least a tune, intake, headers, exhaust and drag radials just to match what a MS3 runs STOCK in the ¼. That’s like over 2,000.00 invested. Invest 2,000.00 in the MS3 and see what happens.

Motors blow all the time? How is less than 1% of total MS3’S blowing motors “blowing all the time”? Out of like twenty thousand MS3’s we know of like twenty blowing!
