Want to know what's really sad? A car with a factory turbo needs a FULL ENGINE BUILD to upgrade the turbo, but a car designed for NA can run a GT30 to 450+ whp on a stock block with no meth. Seriously, WTF?
You can find Civics beating and being beaten by all kinds of cars everywhere. It doesn't change the fact that they are a highly moddable, well balanced platform. Just because you beat some socal ricer kid in a 10yr old stock civic with 200k miles does not mean all Hondas suck. Lol at the Viper getting juked by an EJ.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Read the thread. My argument was this: A bolt on civic (i/h/e) is faster than a stock MS3. It is also faster than an MS3 with an intake (both comparisons measured by 1/4 times). Honestly, I wouldn't consider the MS3 reliable with anything more than an intake, or anything less than a built engine. Conclusion: Dollar for dollar, the Civic is faster. Further, the Civic responds better to mods (including FI). Now, if you want to change the argument, fine, but don't accuse me of dancing around anything because I don't argue your arbitrary point(s) that I never asserted.

The Civic responds better to modifications?? Since when does a fucking Civic gain 15-20hp with a $150.00 intake?? Or around 20-25 with a DP?? We got MS3 running 13.3@108 with just an intake and AP for crying out loud! An SI by comparison would need THOUSANDS in bolt-on modifications / tune / weight reduction / slicks / drags you name it to run a time like that! Yeah you’re delusional buddy. Now if you want to talk about power much more than 350whp I could give a shit because this is a FWD platform and you can make virtually any POS civic to be fast down the ¼ mile. Ever notice how the Civic SI is never brought up in sport compact comparison test anymore? Yeah that’s because it’s been severely out down; you’re crazy if you think just an extra 20hp is all it takes to turn that around! That car is balls slow, I’ve owned one and I know for a fact a freakin i/h/e isn’t enough to match the MS3. | |

To that I say PROVE IT!!! You must be too dumb to realize that altitude can be taken into consideration when looking at 1/4 mile times. Also, on the physics topic, you are clearly no scholar either. If you were you would realize that altitude does not have nearly as much of an impact on FI cars. It will take slightly longer to hit max boost (doesn't take long to get there and stay there), but at that point the power level will be exactly the same as sea level. You made claims you obviously cannot back up. You can try to talk down to me if that makes you feel better (although it sucks to talk down to someone only to have them point out flaws in your "expert" analysis). It doesn't change the fact that you have posted here to start a fight you can't win. It is clear that you only posted so that you could have something to talk about on your honda board, so go back there and have fun.

This is for those that think the car is 200 whp with bolt-ons and a tune for some reason... This is not a high reading dyno. rx8's dyno 180-190 whp there, and stock rsx's dyno 170's there. *edit* fuck he deleted it off his server. It was 230 whp. 2008 Mazda 3 Mazdaspeed3 Grand Touring 1/4 mile Drag Racing timeslip specs 0-60 - DragTimes.com ![]() ![]() Here are some vids showing what my car looked like at the track that night. Note in the 3rd video the Si is wearing the slicks that sadly don't fit my car. They clear the caliper by like a mm but the lugs won't tighten, and there are bad creaky sounds when driving. The 3rd vid of my good friend Ryyiann's Si, and a few other Si's isn't too bad...my amerature skillz...but it's kinda funny if u listen lol. That night he had Vibrant catted header and exhaust, motor mounts, Injen sri, hoosier slicks on rsx type s rims, cf hood (running in the 14s, so he bought a flashpro and a comptech s/c); I think the blue sedan has just flashpro intake and exhaust- I think he was running about 14.0. The 12.9 is great man, but that dude has got mad work done...which is phat but I'm just saying...

He took out some shit he had in his trunk, then the spare, and finally his passenger seat. spare + passenger seat = 100 lbs. Sure he's not just tuning the car, and putting a downpipe and an intake on it. N/A doesn't have the luxury of making it's own atmosphere. |

An MS3 could run the same time with just an intake/ tune / slicks. You spend a lot less on the MS3 for a similar result not to mention you have this wonderful thing called TORQUE. Look at that dyno i posted... 175 ft lbs out of a bolt-on tune. Cammed guys make 180-190. I rode in my buddies cp-e downpipe and intake MS3. I love the torque. It's nice to have. for passing in 6th gear, not for being fast. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Summary: You spend ~2000.00 dollars, make sure you have less than 2gal of fuel in the tank and remove the passenger seat / spare to run a comparable 1/4 time vs. a stock MS3. Oh and you still have ½ the torque. Sorry I don't consider that a better "performance value" by a long shot. You can achieve A LOT more with the MS3 to begin with and then invest ~2000.00 in it. |
