Agreed. If I'm going to try to be serious about this, I need to get some DRs or slicks on lightweight wheels and keep the Hankooks, which I love for the street. If I get some slicks, maybe BBG won't be necessary and I can move off the line with a good clutch dump. I don't know about leaving my stock wheels and tires on my parking spot though. Some guys (like Lenny) may steal'em.

Dude had 2 beers and a shot before we left for the track. Im sure he will use this as an excuse for not running the best time yesterday.

After my 12.5 run and me flashing the ticket like "woo woo" he stopped talking to me. lol

If and when i go that route ill just have a buddy in a truck take em in the bed and then i have no worries. Or just drive out there on skinnys and slicks lol

JacksonMS30 04-18-2011 02:22 PM

+1 to having truck and trailor. The tow truck bill for that guy who broke his Ion's axle was over $200.

Nataphen 04-18-2011 02:31 PM

I'm running 10.1@135 next time that I go out. 5.0 Mustangs, feel my turbo minivan wrath.

I read this thread, and besides all the other stupid shit, like dropping a gear etc. the above qualifies him as a true douche in my book.

My thoughts exactly. I'm a beer drinker by any stretch of the imagination, but I had one beer before noon that day, and that was it. Drinking like that before or during a track event is just stupid.

Ziggo 04-18-2011 02:55 PM

Give me a shout the next time you guys are heading out. I might even make a few passes to make you guys feel better about yourselves.

JacksonMS30 04-18-2011 03:09 PM

We need to go back pretty soon before it gets too hot. I want to try some of the advice posted earlier in this thread.
Raise redline to 7k, don't shift to 5th, and maybe see if I can work out the launch control/FFS problem I've been having.
I would like to be able to crack off a 12.9 (at least) as the car sits now (don't know if its possible but I'd like to try at least one more time before it gets hot).

Nataphen 04-18-2011 03:10 PM

I'm getting a 12.9 before you, sir. I'll stab your tires.

JacksonMS30 04-18-2011 03:22 PM

Challenge accepted!

And I'll steal your intercooler! :swordfight:

motocrosser614 04-18-2011 03:48 PM

Im down for another test n tune.
I think the track ws pretty warm when we arrived also we had been driving for a while, so i have a feeling my best runs were early on and it all turned to shit when it started cooling down. Just for shits im gonna get my cats hacked off before i go back and see if i can accel a catless mustang into the 11's on street tires.
Im confident due to the fact my 12.5 run was done with 30 PSI in the rear tires :)
drop em to 20PSI, catless and a revised tune and i might be able to squeeze a high 11.

DingoDave 04-18-2011 05:01 PM

Count me in for the next track day. My car had a fever but she's feeling a whole lot better now :)

Nataphen 04-18-2011 07:17 PM

I checked the weather, and it looks like we're having rain Saturday as of now. Maybe the weatherman will be wrong.

motocrosser614 04-18-2011 07:58 PM

This weekend is probably a stretch just cause were still in the spring, but summer is pretty close and here within the next month im sure there will be a weekend or two where we can get another group together.

Maybe this time we can organize lunch and cruise where we can actually all stay together instead of everyone hauling ass through traffic and others getting stuck. I mean we all got to the track about the same time anyway no use risking it haulin balls.

JacksonMS30 04-19-2011 12:12 PM

I want to do this again soon but not to soon. Maybe the first or second weekend of may would be good. It will probably start getting hot by may 15th or so so before then if possible.

PS: Nate, your vid is 31% loaded to youtube as I type this. I'll just stick it here and in your original post as well when I get it loaded...

EDIT: Added one of Nate's vids to the op.

Got me beat by a full 0.2 secs with just about same mods. I've never been able to break 101 mph trap though either. There's time left on the table that's for sure. Keep practicing and I'm sure we'll get there. Hey 240mazspd3, what are your times with the current setup?

IshiKage 04-19-2011 05:45 PM

i wonder why you guys are running slower or equal with more mods than the first gens with less mods...

im currently being tuned by DJ right now...hes adjusting my timing now. just received my first map for timing this morning but im going tomorrow, should have my 2nd timing map tonight or tomorrow but im going to the track tomorrow to see with the car is doing now vs what it will do once my tune is dialed in.

all i care aboout is trap though, to see how much power im making

Nataphen 04-19-2011 07:26 PM

240, we'll see if my adjustment to the tune so that I can stay in 4th helps knock off a tenth or so and add a couple of MPH. I'm not claiming to be the best driver either, I'm just consistent. You can be consistently bad, LOL.

IshiKage 04-19-2011 07:48 PM

yeah. im bad. when i ran my 13.71, i was running with a moded 135 and all i focused on was getting of the line with him and trying to keep up. POOF! i had a 13.71 and that was the only time i hit it...i dont go to the track often either but im going to start going more often.

plus all i care about when i go to the track is an improved trap speed

Nataphen 04-19-2011 08:14 PM

Improved trap is great when you're wanting your car to have more power, but I don't really care how powerful it is unless I can push it as far as it can go. I'd rather have a quick ET and a low MPH, because it shows that I'm a good driver. :D

IshiKage 04-19-2011 08:40 PM

yeah, i know but i dont frequent the strip enough so i just dont see myself becoming a good drag racer or even decent. well, i guess i can, just going start practicing from street lights...ha

This is win!
Perfect example, last weekend i couldn't understand why Cameron(other 5.0L driver for your on lookers) was hitting 116 to 118 trap speeds and never getting under 12.5 1/4's. I never got a trap speed above 113MPH and was cutting similar and faster times when i wasn't making the back end slide around. His traps were indicating high 11's low 12's. Then again his 60 FTs never drop below 2.0 with drag radials.

Nataphen 04-20-2011 06:45 AM

The 60' makes or breaks the run, that's something that you have to learn early. If there was a way to get a bad ass launch on the MS3, we'd see a lot more of them in the 12s because they pull like hell on the top end. When I used to hit the track all the time, if my 60' didn't flash up on the board as lower than 1.8, I just babied the car after that. No reason to break the car to get a shitty run because I already know that I can shift just fine.

JacksonMS30 04-20-2011 06:57 AM

@Nataphen, @DingoDave

What are your best 60's so far?

Cause looking at your 60's on your slips, Nate, you've got at least a 13.4-13.5 second car. You've got another 10th of a sec in the 60' at least plus another 2 10ths (maybe) if you hold out 4th at the end.

IshiKage 04-20-2011 07:38 AM

...hes def gotta get a retune. my 60' was 2.14 on my run(13.71) trapping 102.4(intake only.) who tuned your natahpen? or are our running the OTS map with minor tweaks b.c those OTS maps are super slow. you stock tune with those mods would be faster, i know my was.

Nataphen 04-20-2011 08:26 AM

Not with a fuel pump that you're having to tune around to keep it from crapping out on you. Why don't we just reserve judgement until I make it out again? There were a couple of things that I obviously did wrong, so I'm sure that the car has more in it.

I would hope that you had better 60' times than I did with stock boost by gear in 1-2. I'm trying BBG now. Keeping the tires from going up in a blaze was a task. I'm tuning the car myself, but I still haven't touched OTS timing because my stock HPFP is right at the limit.

Alan, my best 60s were the 2.2s in the OP.

DingoDave 04-20-2011 04:34 PM

My best 60' on stock tune was low 2.1's. With the OTS Stage1 tune I pulled a couple 2.0's but still I could only manage a 13.91 ET. I never powershifted 1st-2nd though. I'll probably give that a try next time at the track. I know there's still time wasted on that 1st-2nd gear shift.

JacksonMS30 04-20-2011 05:48 PM

Do you log your drag strip passes?

Of course :)

Logs are attached on OP.
Mods are CPE CAI, CPE TIP, CPE 75 RMM, and OTS Stage1 cpCAI 93oct BT v100.

Domino81 06-06-2011 04:06 PM

I was looking at your 1/8th mile mph and it's the same as yours. So I have to imagine it's roughly the same. Crappy 2.4 60ft's ftl, though. Ugh... tracks that aren't prepped ftl, too.

Doesn't show your 1000 mph, though. Mine was 93.50... I wish I hadn't let off. That would have been the run of the day.
