Went to the track today :) Picture and video. So like I have said before, my state isn't blessed with a 1/4 mile track. We have a 1000ft track which is longer then a 1/8 mile track but shorter then a 1/4 mile track. Anyways I put down my personal best today. My mods... Cobb intake CS Midpipe TS Boost controller/w homeade map clamp set to 17-18psi. 102 fuel 26psi in stock tires Temp was 63 degrees I am car 1025 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...2/IMG_0733.jpg |

I just went a searched some time slips on the other forums and I found lalooshs time slip for his 12.9.....his 1000ft time was a 10.85. So that makes me happy to be at least low 13's :) |

my 1/8th was a 8.4 @ 87.7 and your is 8.5 @ 85.3 and yet your are actually faster than me at 1000. I went 10.858 on my 12.90....wierd. Thats a killer time for your mods if the track is legit Somhow u were a tenth off at the 1/8th and 2 mph slower but managed to edge me to the 1000? lol makes no sense to me. |

your at 97 and i finished at 111, i somehow highly doubt im picking up 14mph in the last 320 feet. Something smells fishy:D you picked up 12 mph in 340. which is alot easier at lower speeds. This either means my car is monster once it hits 5th gear or one of our tracks is off. I doubt atco raceway is off, its a nation nhra track lol |

I think it would put me between a 13.1-13.3....just because of how my car just doesn't pull as hard past 100....I am really thinking that your tbe and fuel pump is what is making your car pull like it does up top.... |

This was just a test and tune....all they did is wipe up the water from cars(water in underpanel from icing the intake manifold, ect). I'll get some more times on a saturday night event when that starts going on and see if that makes any difference. |
I knew I should have went. Still recovering from this sickness. Doctors got me on the hydrocodone syrup, so my times would have stunk anyway :). Awesome time, David! I'd be proud of that one! This just goes to show what I've been saying. I need to get me a map clamp and a boost controller. What is wierd is the fact that when I ran my 11.03 last weekend, my 60' was also a 2.0, but my mph was 99. Probably had something to do with those 2 fuel cuts I had in 4th. I'll hit me a 10 as soon as I can get this POS of a car lined out, if I don't get frustrated and trade for an STI or something........... Again, big congratz! Also, on your "homemade" map clamp, did you use the how to from the other forums? I have to get this done........fuel cut SUCKS! I have to say it once more ....... CONGRADULATIONS ON THAT AWESOME TIME! Keep it up! Hopefully, I won't be too far behind ya :) |
Dude if you weren't fuel cutting your times would be lower then mine. That just goes to show you how much of a gain is in the downpipe ;) Yeah I used the how to from 24/7. We need to make a trip to memphis once you get your car lined out and see what we can do. We need some slicks... |

Seriously though, low rpm (i'd say no higher than 2300) and slip the clutch, rolling into the throttle. Almost as if you were driving on the street, like from a redlight. You don't try to burn the tires off in stop and go traffic do you? Same basic technique, just a hair more aggressive. You want the LEAST amount of wheelspin possible. Takes much prctice. Of course this is how I do it and am only assuming that David does it somewhat the same. This method nets me consistent 2.1s and occasional 2.0s. Of course I still screw up and hit a 2.3 now and again :) If you have any additional info David, please chime in. I'm kind of curious to see if your launch technique has any tricks in it I could stea.....err.....use in mine :) Hope to get my map clamp made and installed mid to late this week and possibly squeeze in a trip to the track. See if I can't hit me a 10. When is the Memphis trip again? |
