Dustin and I are running at the end of the month. Then again, I'm more worried about being the first MS3 to run 11s. You MS6s should have had that done a long time ago :D

SgtP 02-08-2011 10:17 AM

what clutch are you fast guys using? Still on stock?

jwilkins88 02-08-2011 11:20 AM

I think that most of us are still on stock clutch. I'm actually talking to spec right now about possibly sponsoring me

ACT 6 puck.. spec is some shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the other guys are all on stockers.. Also with the AWD thing you also have to realize that we are about 300+lbs heavier than you ms3 guys so the awd just allows us to get where you guys with your lighter weight can already do. Up until the big power is being made and then the AWD becomes more of the advantage in the case of traction..

When we have the weigh of a speed3 and that ability of AWD to go with it THEN we will surpass where you guys are... Even with slicks..

SgtP 02-08-2011 11:57 AM

Jarods7920 02-08-2011 02:14 PM

Well i put a spec in my when i first built my motor and while in brake in period i notice with anything over 5 psi the clutch would slip under light load. I think i know why at least mine slipped but i still dont like spec and their design..

Also i am using the 6 puck sprung clutch..

Well if you are pushing 400+ to the wheels, if you can put it to the ground then you should be able to run low 12 high 11's EASY!!! You mph should be in the 120's.

When i drove robbies car down the track the one and only time it went, with the car acting up in first and second gear i was still able to run 115mph!!! I know for a fact that it would have done an 11 if the problems were not there!!!

rodrigo 02-08-2011 02:42 PM

hope u guys the best.

my money is on anthony (311) though to hit 11s first...(ms3 anyways)

what state is 311 in? I saw B town.... if he is close to maryland when maybe he can join us in the battle!!! This would be fun!!!

rodrigo 02-08-2011 02:53 PM

he is from idaho me thinks. and prolly has more experience racing fwd's than all of us put together.

he 's just buttoning up his tune to be able to run consistently at the track

umm i sorta beg the differ on that but i get that he is an experienced driver!! I have been racing FWD cars for over 18 years and this AWD is my first one... But i am not taking from his driving and my doing it for as long as i have been doesn't make me the best driver out there either so good luck to him and everyone in the race for the 11's!!!!

AND THE PLOT THICKENS!!!!!! who will it be curtain A or curtain B....

rodrigo 02-08-2011 04:02 PM

haha.... u know what i mean. how the fuck am i gonna know how much experience anyone has here lol

i just know from experience...the guys that are the best are ALWAYS the guys that have that ability to nail the 60fts...... the rest its kinda "easier" if there is such a word

jwilkins88 02-08-2011 04:16 PM

Well shit...

I've been talking to the guys at Spec, and the guy told me that he could hook me up with a clutch that they aren't even selling yet.

Supposedly, it's a complete redesign of their old clutches. It'll hold 600 ft-lb tq, so it's more than enough clutch for me. I'm not sure what it's going to retail for, but their "special introductory price is 1100 bucks.

I've done some talking and worked some magic, and they're going to give me the clutch + flywheel + everything else I need for much, much less than that. I think that's what I'm going to do.

I found the reason that MY clutch was slipping was my disc was tooo thin for the flywheel and when the pressure plate was trying to grab it the disc was to far into the concave of the flywheel and thus didn't have the clamping force needed. So if i had sanded down the wall of the flywheel down a few thousandths then i would have had better clamping force on the disc. Is this the problem with all the specs (shrug) but i know there are a lot of people that have had a slipping clutch within the first 1000 miles of installation just like myself!!!!
Outside of the broken finger issue that i have heard a couple of people go through the ACT has been a tried and true clutch so far... i have not heard of one slipping yet...

So where am i going to fit into all this at. MS3 and AWD....am i just an outlier? lol

I am having trouble getting my last axle for the car, apparently they only want to sell me the set and i already have a custom left side! This is some BS!

My Suspension from Ksport is being worked at as we speak and should be ordered as soon as they find me the correct spring for the rear. Now if only out local track would be bought by someone!

LiEast 02-08-2011 04:49 PM

my motor is in a million peices right, sent out the block, getting bored as we speak looking put it back together blah blah blah.. in a couple months as my funds recover looking to do steedspeed top mount mani 7555 percision turbo wana hit 450 with AP also.

I'm just citing an instance of a slipping ACT clutch. I'm sure there are more.

We're having a Mazdaspeed meet and I'm hopefully running 11s.

Oh... Gotcha... Yeah. I'm honing my cylinders out as well.

Jarods7920 02-08-2011 07:17 PM

Mine was done .020 A's well. Think clearance was set at .005

SgtP 02-08-2011 11:11 PM

ACT 6 puck sprung sounds like what I am going to buy.

rodrigo 02-09-2011 12:25 AM

ok i didnt wanna say shit because i dont want more pms than i already receive daily.

but since i see alot of anticipation and hopes and dreams on this thread i will disclose information i have been holding off for a few days.

after going to the track saturday , i made a decision. it will take approximately 3-5 weeks to implement, but I am certain I will succeed.

rather than try to get a 12.9 I am instead now going to skip 12s altogether and just shoot for 11s.

ill keep you guys posted in 2 weeks.

SgtP 02-09-2011 01:14 AM

ill have 1000hp in two weeks. standby.

rodrigo 02-09-2011 09:05 AM

yes , i like your strategy josh. mine involves this,

calculator paper roll, printer to line up w/e i want to type up, and a computer to implement this.

2 weeks and i ll have some impressive slips. lol

im just watching u guys man, i suck on fwd. lol

SgtP 02-09-2011 09:09 AM

lol...maybe not 1000hp but at least 950.

qtrmile beast 02-09-2011 10:32 AM

GO FOR IT LENNY "YOU CAN DOO WIT" nice goal as that is what i wanted to do but i missed it by .3 i have only done (3) 12 sec passes and i am in the low 12's!!!!!

rodrigo 02-09-2011 12:57 PM

im not giving up.... i have a lot of fun drag racing. every outing i knock off .200 from et.... would love to have some mph..but the car will do what it will do.

once i hit bakersfield i have zero doubts ill grab me a measly 12.9.... im just excited to see u guys chop that 11 sec tree down
