Well i would set your scramble boost to low boost in 1st gear and this way you will not get but so much boost and torque down low so that you can get out of the hole. Then in the rest of the gears i will have my boost set to where i want to it to get you down the rest of the qtr. mile..

I wish one of your FWD guys were near i could show you what i have learned with FWD launching. I used to have an 89 ford probe turbo and that thing reminds me off the speed3!!! That thing was short geared and that little turbo would spool fast as hell and just light the tires up!!

My best that i have gotten that car to do was a 13.4@109 with a 1.9 60.. I would say that was a fantastic feet because getting that thing anywhere near a 2.0 was a fight. I never used slick back then tough..

djuosnteisn 02-10-2011 05:41 PM

◄ not a fan of clutch dump either. I would rather just listen to ♫ instead of snapping drivetrain. I ♥ some slip. Whether your ☻ or ☺... it's good for the car.

rodrigo 02-10-2011 05:41 PM

technically the tires wrinkle up and absorb alot of the shock....plus in fwd i always noticed u have to spin out of the hole some to not bog

driver311 02-10-2011 05:54 PM

Ive discussed this many many many times over the years on many different forums. Here is the short version. Big slicks, low air pressure and loading the axles eliminates most of the shock from the launch. Simple as that. If you want a good 60ft you gotta be aggressive. I do agree the a complete side step is a lil much. A super fast pull back is more what I do. But not a slip.

You will get a little spin but you can minimize it but having a little slip just to get the car going and then once it is moving let it let out of the clutch at the right moment .
when you launch you want to find out where that spot is where you can slip it and (FOR A SPLIT SEC) and let it go and the tires just chirp maybe once or twice and you feel the car SNATCH you forward!!! That is your sweet spot!! If you are draggin the clutch so long that you almost can hear the engine RPMs coming down then your slipping it a little tooo long.

I really think that you can do 11's with some sticky street tires but of course slick will just seal the deal. You guys have less drivetrain loss so you REALLY don't have to go for those 1.7 60fts and kill your drive train. Get you a pretty decent 1.9-2.0 and let that 400hp pull you down the rest of the way. Do this without bogging and i bet your time come down drastically. Then you can learn how to push the car harder out of the hole with consistency. FIND THAT HAPPY PLACE "happy gilmore"

driver311 02-10-2011 06:16 PM

Lenny is not making but 350whp. Going from 1.96 to 1.85 will net him 12.8s no problem with a 107 trap. Obviously he has gone to the track several times now and his "HP" hasnt been enough for even 12s. He needs the 60. Launching like a bitch just dont cut it. Gotta get aggressive and slipping isnt gonna cut it. Watch my videos on youtube and see what happens when you drop it. You pull ms6s out of the hole. LOL

Ps. When I launch I get alot of spin. But its sling shotting me forward.

rodrigo 02-10-2011 06:20 PM

yeah ill run 11s soon as i put a dual stage fogger in the motherfucker.

djuosnteisn 02-10-2011 10:36 PM

Anthony, post links to your vids. I wanna watch em :D

me too!!!! and also im sorry but i think that 396 hp is more than enough to get into the high 12s. I think with that kinda of power to weigh you should be able to do a low high 11s!!

rodrigo 02-10-2011 11:45 PM

anthony is one secretive motherfukka lol i keed i keed

this is the one i use to compare what i see when he launches vs when i launch.

obviously u can see his tires are way shorter, but look how hard he leaves on the first pass. vs how i leave (alot softer).....i'll let him chime in but my pass was launched at 4200rpm and slipped the clutch for a tiny fraction of a second before completely going wot in first with almost zero spin.(u can see that hair of a second where i roll the car out rather than jump out the hole)

our mph was about the same ....time was .400 off in his favor.....the launch...that launch is what i need to get to mimic his times....

from what I have seen hondas, srt4s and others launch on slicks that u can tell its a successful pass, its ALWAYS spinning some out of the hole to keep the rpm zooming up but the car is pulling forward fast. (not the spinning we get when u stand still and dont go anywhere lol)

vs

hopefully for me when i get the new clutch disc in ill get better burnouts and more aggressive launching to see if i can net me some mid 1.8s....

either way, if u fwd guys drag race, would be nice to get side shots so we can see how the car behaves out of the hole. and comapre successful launches vs non. believe it or not, if it wasnt because I reviewed my videos that day, I wouldnt have improved much....i saw that my launches were super soft and thats wehy i was still getting 2.1 60fts..... not until I started going more aggressive I got 1.9s....

next time 1.8s

qtrmile beast 02-11-2011 01:29 AM

hey lenny when you are staging and you are ready to launch is you clutch pedal on the floor? i am wondering if your foot is too far in and the delay in time when you let out of it causes your motor to slightly bog when you let out of the clutch.

rodrigo 02-11-2011 01:51 AM

well these act clutches engage pretty close to the floor. there was no bogging, i am purposely not letting the clutch out too soon because i am still learning the limits of traction at the track.

keep in mind that out of 9 passes the only semi proper burnouts were my last 4 , and my only semi aggressive launches my last 3.

this fwd + MT is all new to me and a lot diff than what ive done for 15 years...so im learning.

if u look at some earlier runs of the day u will see how i was even rolling out softer than my last 3 runs.... i am consistently knocking time off the 60.... it just takes practice.

this was middle of day...u see the launch was even softer. im just pushing the limits.......all i can do until i nail solid 60s , next ill be dumping the clutch and spinning out of the hole more like anthony leaves the gates.

I didnt realize you were talking about me. 400whp should get me 11s in this car. NOt low 11s though. Cars to heavy. 400whp in an srt nets me around 11.6s so why would this car that is heavier and worse gearing net me faster ets??? Not gonna happen....... 11.7-11.9 thatll happen! Guaranteed!

qtrmile beast 02-11-2011 09:58 AM

When i drove robbie's car the ONE time i was able to get it to the track and you guys all know that he put down 409 and i was able to get 113 mph and i literally didnt have any power in first and second gear.. why i am not sure something was wrong but when the boost kicked in 3rd gear i was able to muster that mph out of it. This pass also was done one regular nitto 555 extremes not the 555r's..... I think on that pass i did a 2.1 60ft..

I'll find the video later.. As far as weight goes you can lighten he car down to 27XX lbs easy!!!! 27XX lb 400 hp car is well into the 11's..

rodrigo 02-11-2011 10:06 AM

please tell me we aren't gonna start talking about robbies unicorn/cant find the boost problem/only dynos at parks/never backed up shit / vehicle....

cuz u ll go down in flames lol

Speed13 02-11-2011 12:54 PM

My speed6 stares up at the speed gods, knowing some 11s are soon to come.

Second i am in no way trying to rehash his car. His car was THEN and this is the NOW. what we did to get his car to that point is in the past. I am hoping you guys can better that in the future. All i am saying is i have personal experience with a 400hp speed3 that i know if ran right would have went well into the 11 had it not messed up in first and second. Also the MPH tells the tell also!! So if you lenny has 350 hp then you SHOULD be running mid to low 12's and driver311 should be IN the 11's with 396. One other thing that was done on that day was a total gutting of the car and it got down to about 27xx lbs.

This is being stated so that know what kind of weight you can achieve when pulling the interior..
Again this is NOT about his car!!! back on topic..

What all did you pull to get it down to 2700 lbs?

rodrigo 02-11-2011 02:02 PM

im kidding niggah.... i dont care about robbie , his car nor his eggplant parmigiana lunch. lol

my car puts out closer to 340whp.... keep in mind i outweigh any of you by over 200lbs (im working on light driver mod, dropped almost 50lbs so far in a lil over 2 months) , so my traps are a reflection of 3 things, meh powah + extra 250lbs, slower uphill track, and the fact that i cannot powershift (with this fucken ACT) so i drop about 2-3mph from my shifting fail alone.

my clutch disc replacement gets here monday...will put it on in 2 weekends and if time allows go to a fast track in bakersfield to see how my traps change once i go from a slow to a fast track.

all good man, we are all going for different things. im hoping for another 2 tenths off my next outing , thats all.

rodrigo 02-11-2011 02:35 PM

aids niggah.....shits awesome!!! 47.8lbs in 10 weeks exactly since Dec 1, I still got a ton to lose but i'll get err dun!

On my last pass, I was at 92mph at the 1/8 and missed 5th gear and did 113mph.

driver311 02-11-2011 09:37 PM

What all did you take out of the car. "If" I have to take anything out I was gonna take out spare, front seat, and back seat if it comes out easily.Im hoping Ill just show up and rock down some 11s full interior.. If they have a scale Ill weigh my car in race trim when and if I hit that 11. Fingers crossed.

Ps. Im dont remember if I mentioned this but Im gonna be running on my hoosier 26x9.5x16 as well as my m&h 24.5x8x15 to see which one works better.

15's???? i thought the smallest we could run are 16's? did you swap out your front calipers with plain ol 3's?

rodrigo 02-12-2011 05:29 PM

i believe he used spacers to kick em out a bit and clear the calipers...thats the only thing u could do short of swapping calipers.

driver311 02-12-2011 05:59 PM

I used wheel adapters with spaced them way out. Then i still had to find the right wheel that had enough room. I used konig trak lites.
