Really dumb evaluation, they should have done the same thing to the WRX and MS3. Oh wait, they wanted the FR-S to win over these other cars.....Lame.

WHaaa?

One of these showed up to our last AutoX event and I can tell you that not only was I utterly NOT impressed with this car, but It made me want to go spit shine mine just to show her how much I love her. We placed 10 seconds faster than the FR-S at our FTD's.

No amount of performance rubber can make me love this car. It would be a fun fuck off car though, but what wouldnt?.

I think it could have a lot of potential.
Big turbo kit 400+ HP in one of those would be amazing.

What Toyota needs to do though is just make a new supra. They have the FRS a wannabe supra and the LFA a stupid expensive supra. They need to just make a new one. Hell I would even still use the 2jz just refine it. I think a turbo 2jz with Toyota hybrid port/direct injection would be fucking amazing

FR-S Promo, Motortrend and Car & Driver have been selling these new twins like it's the best thing to come out of Japan. If they did put the same tires of the WRX and MS3 the FR-S would have lost again.

I love these new platform but they need torque. Only a Turbo can help this car to be perfect.

I thought one of these makers: subie, hyundai, scion would have done this concept right..

But they all failed in my eyes, I'd like the hyundai but it's a boat in comparison to the frs/brz

Winning against the WRX is good news, the MS3 is pretty good for a FWD.

The Genesis sucks, friend of mine has the new one and he was all talk. We raced the other night 100kmh (62mph) to 200kmh (124mph) and both time I pulled away.

The turbo lag on these things is crazy, I thought it was going to be close since he has about the same power. Now his blaming on being new, needs some tuning and he'll race again But not this year, I want to do this at the track to get some real numbers. No more excuses.

I wouldn't count the FRS out as an autocross car just because you beat one locally. By that same logic, the Z06 and Ferrari 458 Italias are garbage because I beat some random dude who showed up by 10 seconds too.

I agree. The FR-S/BRZ has much more potential as an autocross car than a track car.
With a good driver, it probably has the ability to beat our cars in stock form.

These cars are technically a rehash of the 86 Corolla...they have lived up to that expectation.

It needs a little "Takumi" to make it worthy of delivering tofu...

Can someone explain to me how the wider tire changed the gear box and slowed the car? I just don't really get it. I'm sure this is a dumb?

First turbo BRZ. Only 10 psi. From what i have seen it is a bottom mounted turbo. I wouldnt want to work on that for anything.

I will say I watched one of these at a local auto-x and my god... Worst tires ever. They screamed for mercy every time the car wasn't straight. Other that that it looks like a really decent car if they aren't that expensive (havent cared to look). Definitely not a straight line car but it looked to handle the corners well.

A BRZ with a lot of mods showed up to our local Subaru Challenge last week. It was modded to near the limits of STX and it was very fast. It took top PAX and was faster than many well prepped STis. The drivers of the BRZ are national level drivers, but there were some other very good drivers there too.

It was very impressive.

I agree, at the highest level of skill and competition on a dry track, RWD is better.
Anything less than that and AWD helps a lot. It makes a driver seem better than they actually are.

It has potential....
not a fan of the rear styling, but 11 seconds 1/4 miles from a car tha came out months ago... havent seen a ms3 that does this after all these years... is there one?
