Inspite of feeling like carying on the Vagina Monologues around here given the sever of lack of participation, I will bash on regardless.

So I moved. Yeah. Gheyness is slowly starting to happen again. Just need to find time and get in the rhythm.

Slowly I've been clearing all the shit I have accumulated over the years and going on Craigslist to acquire machines of Win.

Tools yes.

And fuck yeah yes.

Even had the time to re-valve the rear bills. I think I might have gone too hard on the low speed rebound damping. Going to keep it like that for a while and see if my oversensitive arse gets used to it.

I hais a hole in the rear.

For teh meth.

Rear battery migration complete.

Need to run some cables. Tubes and shit. Swap out the old slicks for the NT01s I've had sitting around for about 6 months now, and then if the baby Jayses is willing hit the track once again. This family life shit is turning me into a total sourpuss. I need relief.

Most awesome mod I have done in my life.
China titanium nuts for the front hats. $13 from ebay

A few ricish mods to the rear bumber.

Some flaps to concentrate air flow to the intercooler.

And lastly since I relocated the battery to the arse of the car there is now space to move the PS fluid reservoir to a higher location. I also exhanged it to an OEM one used by many Euro cars that I had laying around. This should hopefully finally get rid of the overflow problems. May look a little flimsey but it sits there pretty sturdy

Need?
Do you need vagina?
No. But you want to get as many of them as you can. Unless you prefer penis. Which is fine. Penis is just fine.

Was at Sebring on the 19th.
Got two major code browns at the track with the EVO brembo calipers. Completly lost all brakes after one of the long stretches and flew off track. Ended up doing a 180 with the hand brake on the grass a few feet away from the barrier wall.
Went back to the pits, bled the brakes with some RBF660 and tried again. This time at least I was prepared and when the brakes went I immediately pumped the pedal like a penis pump while simultanously applying the hand brake and didn't even go off track. It wasnt like the brakes started to get soft and gradually lost bite. This shit was one second they work the next one the pedal goes all the way to the firewall and nothing happens.

I am not sure if the fluid boiling is due to moisture in the brake fluid or that being that the calipers are aluminum they trhansfer more heat to the fluid than the OEM steel ones. At any rate, I am going to try again with the fancy Castrol brake fluid and some titanium shims. If that doesnt work then its back to stock which never let me down.

Also finally found the perfect springs for the front. 12" hypercoil with two steps. 250/750 lbs. No need for the helper springs anymore which I despise greatly.

I drove a 1990 turbo Grand Prix with GM's sad excuse for ABS using an accumulator...
Never knew when brakes were gonna quit working, car was aptly named the death machine.
Losing brakes is scary, hope you get it figured out, thanks for keeping cool threads alive.
I sold that car to some kid a few years back firmly cementing my place in hell when I didn't mention the brake issues

There were slight leaks from the bleed nipples. Barely noticeable when looking at the level in the reservoir.

Check out the PowerBrake BBK's, I think Vorshlag is now the distributor in the States.

Yeah I know those from your brake thread.
Nice set up.
But if I try another BBK it would be the EVO X MR brembo set up with floating discs. Same bolt spacing on the calipers as the EVO 7-9 but 355 floating discs. I can make that work on the MS6 for less than $600. Won't fit on my 17" wheel though.

18in tires are a decent step up in price. What tires you running now.

You got balls of steel to go back out there after losing the brakes like that. I'd prob shed a literal tear if your ms6 died

I am running 17x9.5 wheels with 275 wide Nitto NT01s.
And since we are on the subject of brakes check out this view full of awesomeness. Sweet motherfucking Jesus I can usually restrain myself with car part purchases but I am totally weak at the knees wetting my pants. This kit is actually for the CX-7 but it may fit the MS6. 6 piston front and 4 pot rear calipers. The rear floating rotors will work with the factory brake shoe parking brake. Floating front 380 MOTHERFUCKING MM ROTORS! with 355MM rotors in the rear. Holly shit 355MM ROTORS FOR THE REAR.
Totally overkill and not needed at all. But as far as awesommness not may things come closer. Its on clearance by Rotora for $2400 which if you know BBK prices is a fucking steal for a 4 wheel set up.

I hate you. That's beyond what I should spend on brakes given my skill and low number of track days, but I love awesome looking parts and that's a great deal.
I need my stupid kids to get older so I can drag them to the track with me and hit more days. Stupid kids get in the way of everything...

If you get totally overkill brakes, you'll have to get totally overkill wheels and tires. I hear an 18x12 will "fit".

18" wheels will not clear a 380mm rotor. 19" minimum which puts you in dunkin donuts territory for the MS6 but is still acceptable on the CX7.

So my shit caught on fire.

The little 5 lbs fire extinguisher in the trunk worked like a charm.

Happened last week end at the track in Homestead. Car was ripping and after about 20 minutes first time I went out smoke started blowing out of the hood. Shortly after that I lost all brakes since the fire seemed to cook the brake fluid in the lines running along the top of the fire wall. You can see the insulation on the hard lines melted away. The fire was localized to the fire wall on the passenger side of the car which is a strange place. Pretty sure its not fuel or oil related. Did not find any leaks anywhere. Still have no idea what happened but I am going to speculate the insulation material in that area had been oil and grease soaked over the years and with the hood vents in place may be the upward draft of the air sort of combined with the heat coming off the manifold sort of ignited the insulation material. Fucking fire even passed through to the passenger compartment and melted the carpet!

Since I haven't really found any damage beside some insulation and paint I am just going to bleed the brakes and rock on. May be I'll fabricate a small metal shield to protect the brake lines from radiating heat but that's it.

The fucking brembo calipers work ok now with the Castrol fluid and titanium shims but I still think they are not the best set up for the MS6. There is just too much bias to the front. I'll run them till the pads are out and then it's big boy motherfucking cayenne caliper time.

Is the fiberglass and aluminum foil shield behind the manifold gone? I wonder if that manifold wrap caught fire, you always hear that its a risk.

I recently made a stainless shield to replace the fiberglass/foil one, comes around the passenger side and helps to protect the AC lines as well

No that material is still there.
The stuff that caught on fire is mostly on the firewall of the passenger side.

I hais teh driftz.

This fucking thing.
Routing all these brake lines and finding the correct fittings was a total pain in the arse. Then flaring all the lines and making sure all leaks were eliminated was an even bigger pain in the arse. Oh and the fucking hydro brake doesent really do a damn thing with the 0.7 master cylinders. I think they are just too big. So now I am gonna try smaller sized willwoods. The assembly is mounted at an angle to it fits through the standard parking brake lever slot. Gonna be stealthy and shit.

The rear 4 piston brembos are tits though. Had those sitting on the shelf for almost 10 years now and finally got to using them. They are rear OEM on Jaguar XKRs and XJRs for certain years and the total surface area of the pistons is pretty well balanced to the front EVO brembos. The bolt spacing is 10mm longer then the bolt spacing on the hub so there was grinding required. The disc is off an RX-8 and its about 10mm smaller in diameter compared to the MS6 but it is thicker of course since its vented. Caliper also needed 5mm spacer to center them on the rotor. Fucking Mazda and their logic. Why vented on wimpey RX8 and solid on the MS6 only Hiroito Mataguchiyama prolly knows.

Much better with the smaller 0.5" cylinders now. But still fucking hard to get the wheels to lock with the small lever.
Stealth mode also complete.

Maybe that's why the real drift brake levers are usually 2 ft long.

Was at the track again and failed.
I have the BAT temp flag on at 142F and it kept hitting it after just a few minutes of track duty. Then on top of that I blew the dipstick. That's the first time this happened.

I believe the check valve I used on the crankcase vent system was too small. So I exchanged that for a bigger one.

Then it was time to try to lower BAT temps.

First I replaced the RAM intake for this CF encapsuled filter thing.

Then a bigger IC

And then I shielded the EM from the turbo outlet with some titanium sheet metal, some aero gel, and some foldable aluminum corrugated sheet to keep it all in place.

If all this shit doesen't lower BATs by at least some 20-30 degrees than I'll castrate myself.

And lastly I went full homo and removed the AC and the motherfucking power steering pump with flying Miata rack mod a la Code Monkey.
