Default 2003 msp stalling and running rich

Ok. Lemme give the background. Bought the car a couple months ago. It's a project. It had a mess of crappy hoses and poor "upgrades". I posted before about my previous problems and got that straightened away in no time. If you look back in this section u can read about that.

Here's the deal, I parked the car in the yard for last few weeks because we went on vacation. When I parked it it ran phenomenel. The other day I start it to work on it and the battery was dead. Got another car and boosted it. It ran for a second then died. Same thing trying for ten minutes. Finally grabbed the 4 wheeler and towed it in the garage. Messed around with a few things. Checked codes. Had cylinder 4 misfire. Swapped coil to the other one and the misfire jumped to that cylinder. While searching I noticed an intercooler hose had popped off the turbo. Fixed that. Got a new coil pack and new ngk coppers and swapped that stuff out. Start it up and its.running rough like its flooded and keeps dying. Stalls if u don't keep revving it. Check codes and got p2009 and p660. I swapped the solenoids with each other and then only got p2009. Swap em back and still same code. It now idles and runs ok. I slammed the butterflies in the intake shut a few times by hand as well.

Also, my turbo is on its way out. Can hear it spin down after engine is off and there's noticable shaft play. I'm guessing not.related though as it holds 7psi fine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

ok. new information. fiddled with the car tonight. runs like crap when cold. if u keep it running by throttling it and keep starting it if it dies, when it warms up it runs "ok". by ok i mean it idles and runs to the point that you could drive it. less hesitation and very little loading up. when cold it is god awful hard to keep running and runs terribly. im assuming a massive vaccum leak somewhere even though vacumm gauge reads between 22-28 at idle. so im gonna rip the intake off, do the butterfly delete and check for leaks. forgot to add before i cleaned the egr the other day thinking it may have been the problem before i found the bad coil pack that led to my current problems. so im going to check every hose, coupler, tee and vaccum line. delete the vtcs and vics and port the intake and reseal it. hopefully i can find my pesky oil leak on the back of the motor while im in there. if anyone has any helpful info thatd be great. thanks in advance.

How's the MAF? is it set up in blow through? mine failed after a year of being boosted.

oil leak from the back of the motor is either corrosion around the oil pan,
or the oil filter,
or the T off the bock to the oil feed and oil pressure sensor is fubar'd

no, car is not yellow. its spicy orange. has a yellow hood from a previous owners deer hit though.lol its #1292 and its an '03. i actualy was googling the car last night and found another previous owner from vermont(not the one i got it from) on a forum. the car came from las vegas and then north carolina. if anyone knows the p.o thatd be cool to talk to em.lol

anyways midnite, no my maf is not set up blow through. it is before the turbo. i do plan on setting it up as blow through eventually. im to the point i may pull the whole motor now. was gonna wait but its pissing me off.lol it needs motor mounts, the clutch squeals, and it has oil leaks so i may just drop it all out, do a gt28, 626 intake mani and reseal the motor. and front mount with all new couplers and such. if anyone needs anymore info please ask. i dont know all the ins and outs of this car. i have read every single post i could find related to msp's and still dont have a definitive answer. thanks for the replys guys and if anyone is in ny, vt or anywhere and theres any meets id like to get to know some fellow mazdaspeed enthusiests. especially guys with speed 6's as thats my baby.lol

ok, so heres an update. i read around online and heard there were problems with coolant temp sensors causing rich running conditions. so i went and g0t a new one(multimeter was at work so i couldnt test the original one, just decided to change it as it couldnt hurt.) so i get the new one, go to install it and it snapped off before it was even tight. cheap junk aftermarket crap. so i back the piece out and reinstalled the original one. i had disconnected the battery during this mind you. so i start the car and it idles. amazing.... take it for a drive and those damn intake runner codes still pop up. no check engine light, pending codes. but they are there. i ordered intake gaskets. im gonna gut the intake and cap the solenoids. anyone have any other ideas? if anyone knows some msp experts please send em this way. thanks again.

Ok. So I haven't posted on here in a while but here's my progress. I changed every vacuum line and hose. Put everything back to basically stock. Used an Audi/vw bpv as I couldn't locate an oem one. Switched to a blow through maf setup plus I gasket ported te intake head and throttle body alon with a Vtcs delete. Car runs great now. Not registered so I haven't driven any long distances but in the couple mile jaunts on back roads it drives great especially with a dying gt25. Lol still have a Vtcs code which I think is the solenoid. I have a parts car I will switch the solenoids from and find out. Gotta change the o2 sensor as previous owner did a universal fit and wired it himself. They never seem to work right,at least not for me. So I'm gonna put a new specific fit one on it. Like I said. Car seems to run great. Body and paint getting done this month so back on tr rd soon(I'm a body man, heavy collision specialist so I will bring it to work and do it in my spare time there. Probably a few weeks worth of work. ) I will update soon. Car is coming out of storage this week since the snow is finally gone. Hope to meet up with some fellow mazdaspeed owners this year! Any one in NY or VT? Lemme know. Thanks
