Default CEL On and Off

The past 2 weeks I've had a CEL turn on and then turn off the next day on it's own. It's happened 3 times and it doesn't seem to make a difference if I'm easy on the gas or not. I have no way of looking up the code unless I pay $80 to firestone or a shop. I figured I'd ask if anybody has any ideas before I take it in. My only thought would be fuel pump because I'm still running stock internals.
Also... for a while before I got the CEL, I would feel hesitation when on the gas at high RPMs. I thought it was boost cut but it's not as severe as boost cut would be.

My mods are cobb SRI, CS DP and TS BOV. Thanks for any ideas/suggestions.

Go to an autozone or O'Reily's or wherever, they don't charge for the DX reading.

Post back with the code

Didn't realize they did it for free, thanks.

Went today and it was tune up / change spark plugs (which I did 10k miles ago...) and clean the EGR. I'm gonna clean the EGR first and see if it goes away before I spend another 50 on spark plugs.

If just p0401, I wrote the how to. Clean it chevron Techron fuel system cleaner, and then donae $25 for VIP access.

That cel goes out after 4 drives, then back on if clogged.

Is shell's 93 octane just as good as chevrons or does it matter?

No, that's gasoline. Raider is saying to get the techron cleaner. You should be able to pick it up from a chevron station or an auto parts store.

You need to clean the EGR out, its probably too clogged with carbon deposits. Lots of people have had this issue before.
For some reason I never have.
Raider likes this.

actually. technically Gasoline is a solvent... so it would probably still work fine, just not as good as something a little more designed to eat up carbon sooty poop.

Good luck everyone, then buy an AP and block off/unplug your piece of shit EGR.
