Knocking sound on driver's side

So I installed my JBR chrome Molly the other day and I absolutely love it. Race car all day. But after 2 days I started noticing a slight problem. My car only has 5,000 miles on it, but the RMM started creating random knocking noises when I clutch into first to get rolling? Only if I don't rev high. If I rev over 2500k then it's smooth. But anything lower I get knocking noises under my feet...? Happens in reverse too. Andy ideas what it could be? (sorry if this has been asked)

Have you actually gotten under the car to check the mount? Post-Install

Monotonous ONE 09-26-2012 12:47 PM

My car was on an actual lift 6 foot off the ground when I installed it. Haven't had the chance to check it out again, its only been installed for about a week now. A buddy of mine (shopety) is coming in town this week and we are gunna check it out. I just didn't know if anyone else has heard of or experienced this problem before? Funny thing is that after only 4,500 miles my OEM motor mount was ripped. (discovered this when I took it off)

Raider 09-26-2012 12:56 PM

Did you torque it to spec, and use Loctite?

Nathan 6 09-26-2012 12:58 PM

Re-torque to 70 ft/lbs. and as @Raider said, use loctite.

Domino81 09-26-2012 12:59 PM

The only thing mine did was create a squeaking chatter intermittently.

leon78 09-26-2012 12:59 PM

Put a little MAN on to her when you tighten it....prob solved

DylanFYHN 09-26-2012 01:00 PM

Good call to the both of y'all, thanks I'll have to try that out this weekend, I'll give feedback on this post after I do that this weekend to see if it solves the problem

SofaKingAwesome 09-26-2012 01:01 PM

He is gunna help me, I just said that

himurax13 09-26-2012 01:09 PM

I had something similar happen after 5,000 miles with the mounts installed. The Horizontal bolt was a little loose so I torqued it down with a breaker bar and my shifter became a lot smoother and quieter than before. The other bolts I left a t 70 lbs.

Whiney little faggot, aren't you?

If he was going to come fix it, then why even fucking post?

If you did not torque it to spec, nor use the Loctite, then you can kiss warranty goodbye.

Yeah see that's what I'm thinking my problem is. I didn't use loctite in the first place so that was my fault for being a dumbass haha. Besides that small problem, the mount is fantastic. Once I get going that knock goes away entirely. It's mainly when slowly feather into gear, rather than just starting fast. Pretty much like when I'm pulling up into the incline on my driveway is when it's the worst

Fixed.

ibsir 09-26-2012 02:34 PM

I bet your bolt has backed out since initial install. Same happened to mine. Retourqued it to spec 2 weeks after initial install.... Problem solved

So, I'm sitting here taking a shit reading this retardedly stupid thread. I'm ready to wipe my ass, so i set down the phone with intentions of telling you that i am dumber for having read this bullshit.

while wiping my ass, i got a little shit on my thumb. It's like i forgot how to wipe my ass.

This thread made me so dumb i can't even effectively wipe my ass without getting shit on myself.

And i blame you...

Probably sent from a toilet

GODspeed7 09-26-2012 04:50 PM

Bigger question who in the fuck let @DylanFYHN back on? @Raider are you responsible for this?!?!

Tapatalk LIKE A BOSS!

Raider 09-26-2012 04:56 PM

I'll just leave this here Bolt Torque: What Is It?

Take that bolt out. Throw it in the trash and go buy a new one. You have done one of two things
Fucked its couch or got really lucky and hit between 70 and 90.
Breaker bar is pretty vague but what I consider a breaker bar tight is some place around 180-240 tq.
I'm not trying to come off as a dick. I'd just hate to see a over stretched bolt fail on you.

Well I was only able to tighten it about a quarter of a turn or so. My breaker bar is too long to turn more than an 1/8 of a turn before it hits the ground. I doubt I could get more than 90 lbs of torque while on my back with a breaker bar in one hand and an open end wrench in the other.

Raider 09-28-2012 11:57 AM

Ok, so OP has been keeping me up to date since we left his cornhole gaping.

He is trying to not get killed. He did check and bolts were tight, getting it back on a lift and re-torquing this weekend to make sure. If RMM is ok, then I am leaning to torn trans mount or passenger mount.

deadlandxtreme 09-28-2012 12:19 PM

Or there is a midget trolling him. Hmm, maybe that's where gremlins come from. Sorry for not being helpful, I saw 3 midgets on Razor scooters fly pass me at Lowes during my lunch break and it freaked me out.

EdgeAutosport.com 09-28-2012 12:21 PM

Tell him to remove the bolt that goes through the bracket that attaches to the motor.

We had the same exact problem with a car here at the shop and that bolt was tight but it was getting bound up causing the mount to shift and what not. Tell him to remove and put it back it and it should fix the issue

SofaKingAwesome 09-28-2012 01:09 PM

I finally had to take mine up to 100 ft/lbs after failing 3 times. Hasn't budged since.

Raider 09-28-2012 01:20 PM

I think I did 90 on mine with enough Loctite to make it look like a used tampon.

DylanFYHN 10-02-2012 11:45 PM

So I got it up on the lift this past weekend to retorque the bolts and loctite them also. Dropped her down and gave her a drive (sounds naughty), no knocking whatsoever. Seemed to have fixed the problem so far. So I waited a few days to post to make sure it stayed the same and it's still going A Ok! Thanks for all the help and tips guys, I appreciate it

Raider 10-03-2012 09:25 AM

Glad it's fixed.

Now, about those pics....
