I would be idling at a light and I see a flash of the ABS light come on (nothing wrong with the brakes at all) as if the car was about to shut off and illuminate all the idiot lights. first couple of times it did it I chucked it to either my imagination or maybe me just slowing to a stop in gear , forgetting to either put it in neutral or depress the clutch. so it did it twice more but these times in the middle of a gear so there was no arguing the fact that the electrical system almost lost consciousness if that makes sense to you guys. I have also noticed after the car has been driving a while and I get to my destination (i usually have all 4 windows down) I roll all 4 windows up , 2 at a time and at the end of the rolling up I hold the 2 buttons momentarily after they close up just to make sure they are all the way up.....well when I do this my dash lights illuminate and again the car behaves as if it were about to turn off. I mentioned this to phillyb last week before we started working on my gauges.....and he commented that perhaps my meth controller (basically the only thing up to that moment I had connected to an ignition wire) was short circuiting. anyways installed gauges and still had that bug but whatever......anyways tonight I was testing out some tweaks aaron sent me for my maf tables , I was beating the shit out of the car as usual, put about 150 miles of every scenario to really set the trims etc etc. on my way home at 1am i come up to a light and i both feel....and hear the engine tone at idle starting to sing (basically be off rythm)..... at that moment I say to myself "fuck......here comes boom time" ..as I roll out carefully to feel anything that might clue me in the car starts stumbling.....well....my motto has always been the same...."all in niggah"...so I start coming into boost and the car feels normal......i then say fuck it bitch...blow up !!! and I do a full wot run and the car feels great.....but again as soon as i come up to the next light.....song and dance of an engine thats misfiring. limp it home.....and i start pulling codes.....p0303 or some shit like that (misfire in cylinder #3) and some u2064 or some shit with no description.(i think it means "hey look a code over there...some stupid redundant code) well before I pulled the codes I was already thinking that this felt like either a spark plug that wasnt jumping the gap at idle and part throttle or a coil that is taking a shit on me, usually mechanical parts when pushed hard give up the ghost....since mine didnt I have to assume its an ignition problem because I have experienced low and part throttle stumbles in hot rods before and it was usually ignition related. anyways.....after i pull the codes I roill my windows up and reach the top and this time the car really goes haywire , gauges start doing open and closing ceremony, g tech re starts..dh shuts down and starts back up again etc etc...so then I go FUUUUUCK...!!!!! I really hope it aint a short that I gotta chase down cuz thats a nightmare for me.........\ anyways....this weekend I will pull all the plugs and inspect them....hopefully borrow a coil that i can throw in #3 cylinder and see if that makes it go away (or swap one of my own to see if I get say a #1 misfire) , check my connections that I have tapped for ignition...like meth controller....pump...gauges etc and then..... well fuck I hope there is no and then. any ideas????

are any of the maf corrections made in the lower rpms? When I was making some corrections to my maf table I got similar events misfire CEL stumbling at idle, Check the tables and see how low the corrections go into the rpm range. Jordan was also telling me that if you make timing corrections too quickly like removing 2 degrees in one cell then jump to adding 2 in the next it could trick the ecu into having a misfire.

I had a problem like that but the car wouldnt idle, P0300, u2064. turned out that I forgot to put a vacuum line back on (the big vacuum line by the turbo that people are putting the seafoam in) you could have a vacuum leak? |

negative guys, p0303 is specifically ONE cylinder misfiring , #3. and if u ever had a car with a dead or dying cylinder you know what it feels like. I 'm gonan swap coil right now and plugs..we ll see. I am hoinestly more worried about the car blacking out than the misfire...and i flashed ots map just to eliminate the maf calibration as a variable btw. (still misfires)

Aside from the flash that you have changed and the gauges what other mods have you done recently? It sounds like you have a short or a bad ground. Sounds like Phil's electrical grimlin has made it's way to your car. |

ok....just wrenched on the car b4 going to work. #3 spark plug had the insulator broken off and dangling but held in by the ground strap. That would explain the misfire at low rpm....swapped all plugs for itv22s with 5k miles that I had lying around (never throw used but good plugs away!!) and fired her up....no misfiring anymore, i did not swap coil because i like making one chnage at a time to determine the variable always. thats the good news....bad news the other gremlin is still there, and actually phillyb did not do my wiring I did most of it....I really dont solder shit , just tap...so Ill recheck all my work, btw the blown plug was most likely due to the fact that 3/4 way of my testing i ran out of meth and once I saw bat didnt drop off at normal rate I brought it home for a fill up....in that 15 mile drive I stayed out of boost but I got lazy when I re filled and didnt purge the line..I just set the controller to spray meth low to clear the air ....It took like 10 minutes for all the air to clear out and I never really went wot..just hard enough to activate both stages of the meth kit. that goes to show u how shitty ma car runs without meth. NOW I GOTTA GO CHASE ELECTRICAL GHOSTS!!!!

you're the 6th person with ap throw u2064. i think that code means there are other codes, but the ecu for some reason can't see them. if you look here - Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U2064 Definition - it says that for mazdas - Warning Indicator Requested by Another Control Module... so something is trying to send a code, but something, perhaps the ap itself, it interrupting that code. off the top of the dome, the others i can recall are bio, corbs, and superv |

update***** UPON INSPECTION OF THE SPARK PLUG **** I see the insulator is cracked off completely and I have a piece of it actually missing (size is about half the size of the ground strap) that is or was prolly dancing around in the combustion chamber. hopefully that lil fucker flew out one of the exhaust valves and its sitting on the mesh of the cat by now lol

i get 2064 whenever i throw a cel. got it the other day when i forgot to connect the msf sensor... doh!!

Well I had the same issue with cylinder #3 misfire on the dyno, same problem with the ITV 22 spark plug being cracked and dangling. I swapped out the plug (always keep an extra set in the trunk) after peddling the car off the dyno. Not to be a dick but be on the look out for the infamous Knock in boost that myself and Aaronc7 had. Those tiny thin ass injectors seals will probably let go. Like I said not trying to be an asshat.

lately my car has been throwing a random cyllinder misfire... bad... will stall at idle... will stall driving down the road... at cruise it will misfire completely and kill all power and make a gurgling noise... car is going to SHIT!!!

I have p0303 right now but my car runs fine. I have switched plugs, coils, and just replaced injector seals, but the cel is still there. Any idea what it can be. I am going to get it pressure and leak tested and then I guess check the injectors.

I got U2064 tonight while just cruising at about 50 mph. I am planning to clear it and see how it goes...

Lenny127, Your description of what happens when you roll up the windows sounds like alternator or at least voltage regulator to me. Also, do you still have the stock battery? They tend to go bad.

Hey, sry to bring up old thread. I changed coil and plugs for cylinder 3 but still getting p0303 code. What should I check next? Anyone else solved their misfire issue if it's not plug or coilrelated? No leaks btw

clean the connections to the batery it sounds like they are dirty and building resistances when you roll up the windows adds load , is it still cranking good also check to see if your charging system is putting out at least 14v, or your alternator could be gitting weak, but usually your batt light will illuminate if the alt is bad
