Default Misfire and Oil consumption fix = PCV

183K on my 2007 MS3. AC compressor seized on the freeway taking the belt with it causing the car to overheat. I got it shut down pretty quick, replaced the compressor and belt but started to consume oil not long after that. I figured it was the turbo so I replaced it (it was pretty worn out, lots of shaft play and starting to get interference).

Everything seemed golden until a week later I started to get misfire on cylinder 2 and burning lots of oil again (black smoke when accelerating). I figured the rebuilt turbo had given it up and was dumping oil but it was weird that it only effected cylinder 2. After a new spark plug, swap coils, check grounds, reseat ECM connectors, the misfire would not go away.

The shop manual has you check the PCV when you have oil consumption issues. I got a new one and replaced it (from under the car without removing the IM, definitely takes some time) and it was like magic. The car runs fantastic now so I'm convinced my PCV was leaking causing my crank case to pressurize and pushing oil into cylinder 2 causing the misfire.

A short tale that may help other speed owners out there. This forum is an amazing resource so trying to give a little back.
