Default Shaking in steering wheel

Sorry for posting two back to back troubleshooting threads but i need to get these issues resolved. I have been fighting this vibration felt mostly in the steering wheel for a while now. I have checked everything i know to check and have started going to me hanics. One said i had warped rotors and a sticky caliper. I replaced two calipers that were sticking and all 4 rotors and pads. The issue did not go away. Another mechanic said the rim had a dent or something on the bead of the rim. Im not sure what that is but all 4 rims look perfect after close inspection. What should I do? Also there is a sound that gets faster as i drive faster and it sounds like it is coming from front passenger side. I turned andpulled on wheel with car jacked. Seems okay. No noises. No noises when going over speed bumps either.

could be a bent wheel, slipped belt, or unbalanced tire. easiest thing to try is swapping wheels/tires from the front to the back. if that lessens the vibration, then you need to look into the wheels/tires. if it does not change, then you need to look into your suspension.

Pu Manchu has got it right the most likely problem is uneven wear, unbalanced tire+wheel or some other tire issue like a bubble.

There are a lot of other potential issues here if the tires check out okay and you move on to the front suspension. The sound that gets faster with speed could be a wheel bearing which will produce a howling noise. The type of noise produced here would help in diagnosing the problem. In the suspension first check the tie rod ends and lower control arm bushings and ball joints. Next would be the sway bar end links, sway bar bushings and shock top hat mounts.

Okay i will try your suggestions and update in a few days. Also, i forgot to mention I did have the wheels balanced and that did not make much of a difference. Thank you for your help.

Just take the car to a reputable tire shop and get all four wheels/tires balanced and alignment checked.

if you have a damaged wheel, you have the problem, just fix it.

a specialist wheel shop can make it out of round by hammering and welding but you would better replace it. An oem wheel is very easy to find if it is what you have.
if you have a special out of stock set without options to buy a new one, it could be cheaper to repair than buying all 4 new.

i would start with that looking into that wheel, maybe switch it aournd like the other guy said and see if the noise comes from the other side.

the other guy mentioned a wheel bearing.. if you swerve in a parking lot left right left right etc... and the noises gets louder and softer depending the weight on the side of the car, you can tell where the problem bearing is.

also are the psi for the tires in spec?

Thats the thing though, i cant find the damage that the mechanic supposedly found. I know he didnt remove each tire from the rim to inspect the inside. Ive inspected tires and rims countless times. There are no bubbles, no dents, no damage, tire pressure is all to spec. I cant find anything wrong. I am in the process of switching the wheels to see if the sound changes.

Also, the feeling in the steering wheel changes when turning to the left. Way worse when turning left. Would that indicate right side wheel bearing needs replaced?

Is there any play in the CV joints in either of the front half shafts?

That is the only play i know to check for besides lifting up just one side and grabbing 9 and 3 to check play there. There is no 9 and 3 play or 12 and 6 play or push and pull play. Either side. Only thing is that rotational play but was told that was probably normal as seen in video. Also the boots look perfect.

Just because the boots look perfect doesn't mean that the joints are actually in good shape.

Okay... im just trying to tell you that there is nothing obvious saying that it is the cv.

Also the rotational play is not in the cv

Nothing wrong with being skeptical of the mechanic, but if you cant find anything wrong than take the car to someone else to get the wheels and tires balanced. If they say they found something wrong have them point it out to you. You haven't rule out the wheels needing to be balanced yet as far as I can tell.

If he has not switched, I suggest go front-to-back rather than side-to-side. If his tires have directional treads, you can't swap between sides, only front to back. Best to do it that way regardless of whether he has unidirectional tread pattern, IMHO. He might still have a vibration in the steering wheel, unless the front tires are moved to the back.

I concur above that the tires need to be balanced as well to rule out that issue or to help isolate which wheel is the culprit. They will know when they try to balance it.

That passenger side noise does make me think he may be having a CV joint go out, though.

Make sure the wheel is balanced correctly (a weight could fly off) and get someone to clearly show you the damage to the wheel if you are skeptical.
