Shifter Issue - Really difficult to engage reverse, then back to 1st

I've had this issue for quite a while, but just dealed with it until now since its gotten worse. When I first got my MS3, when I put it in reverse, it'd press down, shift over to reverse, reverse, then put it in first, and the shifter would pop right back up with no issues. Now when I put it in reverse, i press down hard as shit, it goes in reverse, I reverse, then when im switching to go into 1st, i literally have to use a death grip to pull it back up. It seems like it has to be something simple with the shifter itself. I don't even drive the car like an idiot with hard shifts or anything, always pretty light. Anyone else have this problem or know what it is? I could have sworn there was a thread about this already, but I had no luck finding it. Thanks guys.

You could pull the console apart and adjust the shifter to see if that helps; this can be done completely tool-less in just a few minutes; pretty sure there is a how-to thread around here somewhere....

You could try lubing the shit out of the shifter where the reverse pin slides down. There is usually a big glob of lithium grease in there but maybe yours went dry or something.
