Default Car-door fires on GM SUVs draw NHTSA scrutiny

U.S. safety regulators are investigating reports of driver-side door fires in some 2006 and 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUVs.

Both GM and Toyota are now working with NHTSA in the investigation to fix the problem as soon as possible. There are approximately 309,000 Trailblazers from those model years in the U.S. Investigators are trying to determine whether Chevrolet used switches from the same supplier as Toyota, though models prior to and after the 2006 and 2007 model years used a different master switch for power windows.
