Default Kawasaki Ninja H2 gets ready for the street as 200-plus mph track testing continues [w/videos]

Filed under: Performance, Videos, Motorcycle, Specialty, Racing

The Kawasaki Ninja H2R superbike was definitely the star of this year's Intermot motorcycle show in Germany. How could it not have been? Packing a supercharged, 1.0-liter four-cylinder with 300 horsepower wrapped in a carbon fiber fairing and a green trellis frame, it's one of the baddest-looking bikes ever. Since it's reveal, even more tasty details have leaked out that have us salivating.

When the company unveiled the concept, it wasn't entirely clear whether Kawasaki would actually build the 300-hp version of the H2R for the street. A recent video indicates that the company might be pursuing a two-pronged effort labeled Track and Street. The Track version looks pretty much like what we saw at the show, but the Street has a stacked exhaust, different front fairing and room for a rear license plate. More information about these twins is reportedly coming at the EICMA motorcycle show on November 4.

The video suggests the Track model being the full-bore, non-street-legal version with all of the power, and according to Visordown, the Street version is potentially detuned to about 200 hp, which is still nothing to sneeze at.

It also seems that the bike might be even faster than first believed. According to Visordown, one of the company's test riders tweeted (and then removed) an image of his bloody helmet saying that he had hit a bird. He reportedly replied to one person that he "was going quite a bit faster than 210 mph," during the collision. Another test rider also claimed to have hit 210 miles per hour.

It sounds like the H2R could be a new benchmark in the sportbike world. Scroll down to check out the teaser showing the Track and Street versions along with a video of the bike testing that features its supercharged song.Continue reading Kawasaki Ninja H2 gets ready for the street as 200-plus mph track testing continues [w/videos]
