Default Safety board attacks drivers' cellphone use; automakers may have to redesign in-car systems

U.S. safety investigators last week issued their strongest recommendation yet on how to curtail distracted driving: ban all use of mobile devices behind the wheel, including those that offer hands-free calling or texting.

I could actually get behind this one. Cars are essentially becoming computers we drive. More and more complicated in-car "infotainment" systems are becoming the norm, and not everyone can figure out how to use them without looking away from the road.

I call that bullshit!
no texting when driving is totally understandable. But no handfree? Seriously? How about no changing radio channel? How about no talking? how about no singing along with the radio becoz it looks like you are talking on the phone? How about no looking around becoz it will distract you? Hell someday they would even ban stick shift becoz you dont have your both hands on wheel when driving!

Hands free too? Why was it developed in the first place? I mean, sure some people are just going to be to ignorant to drive safely with any kind of gizmo in the car but why make a law based on a small margin of incompetents?

Like @HKSpeed3 said, that's bullshit.
