(Thread Starter) | ![]() You may not recognize the name Ginetta, buried as it is in a sea of cottage-industry British niche automakers, but British racing fans know it and know it well. The company is best known for its Le Mans Prototype racers, but also makes a line of sportscars that are primarily built for racing as well, and recently acquired Farbio to boot. Now the Leeds-based automaker is preparing to launch a new vehicle. Tentatively called GXX, the new Ginetta sportscar is tipped to pack a 3.7-liter engine - presumably a six at that size, but Ferrari and Bugatti have made smaller V8 and even V12 engines - with 310 horsepower on tap. Encompassed in a carbon fiber body, the GXX is expected to come in at less than 1,100 kilograms (2,425 pounds), hit 60 mph in about four seconds and top out around 165 mph. That's all we've got for the time being, save the rather sad looking teaser image above, but we'll be watching to see when Ginetta plans on releasing its latest product in full.Ginetta teases upcoming GXX sportscar originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 05 Oct 2011 18:01:00 EST.
