(Thread Starter) | ![]() There's always that person who has to spoil a good thing. We all celebrated when Michael Schumacher emerged from his months-long coma following his skiing accident in late December. As one of the greatest drivers in Formula One history, no one wanted to see Schumi live out the rest of his days in a French hospital bed. The good feelings couldn't last for long, though, because it was discovered that the seven-time champion's medical records had allegedly been stolen and were being offered for sale to the media. The perpetrator of this monstrous act still isn't known. However, according to The Guardian, French police have allegedly tracked down the IP address from the email offering the records to a Swiss helicopter company. It was purportedly contracted at one point to transport Schumi from France to his rehabilitation in Switzerland, and the Swiss police have begun investigating the case further. The emails reportedly asked for 60,000 Swiss francs ($67,150) for the documents that consisted of over a dozen pages summarizing Schumacher's condition. Sabine Kehm, Schumacher's agent, hasn't confirmed that they were the F1 great's actual medical records, but according to The Guardian, she threatened to sue any media outlets that published them. This was hardly the first craven attempt to sell insider knowledge about the driver. One individual tried to get into his hospital room disguised as a priest, and another pretended to be his father. Throughout this entire process, Kehm and his family have asked for complete privacy about Schumacher's condition.Theft of Schumacher's medical records linked to helicopter firm originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 09 Jul 2014 16:02:00 EST.
