U.S. incentives aim to lift use of high-blend ethanol The Obama administration said on Friday it will provide incentives to U.S. gasoline stations to install more pumps with a higher blend of ethanol, part of its effort to boost consumption of the renewable fuel. More... |
Too bad we're running out of phosphorous and won't be able to grow anything in 50 years. Not so renewable, eh? |

Ethanol is fucking stupid. |
The only way to get our money's worth out of e85 would be to make it atleast $1 cheaper than normal fuel. To do that, we'd need massive amounts of e85 made; a glut of corn on the market will shrink the amount of other available crops, thus driving prices even higher on food. |
Or we need to make ethanol out of weeds and shit. I saw a show where people were trying to make it using saw grass, and last I checked you don't have to fertilize that shit. |
My car gets almost double the mileage when I use fuel without ethanol in it. |
Ethanol isn't about mileage. It's a known fact that mileage will decrease. It's cleaner-burning, though, and that's why it's so "great." Also, turning grasses and whatnot into Ethanol has a process similar, but not identical to, corn. The problems with switching are that corn farmers won't make any money for a while and the refineries would need retrofitting. The whole reason we chose corn in the first place was because farmers were bitching about being poor and those in the gov't knew that paying them to make fuel with it = votes. |
Fuck ethanol. I like my corn ON the cobb. Kthnxbai |
Prices for meat will keep increasing because of ethanol too as corn is feed. Ethanol is terrible for boat motors and small engines. |

On a side note... e85 makes sick power, albeit with the above mentioned drawbacks. |
