octane boosters are worthless. find a gas station with race gas and mix it or get methanol injection

This is the best stuff you can get. Its for real, not like 99% of the crap out there. It even has a chart to show you the octane your at depending on how much you use-lol.

Torco Accelerator - It's not just an octane booster

most octane boosters you get off the shelf have a maximum octane raise of .1 to .4 of one octane percentage not worth the money in my opinion to go to 91.4 octane.

Looks like there are in fact a few gas stations in OKC that sell 93, as well as some that sell 101.

Lucas octane booster does work and does raise the octane a few points.

It would always get rid of my knock.

I think it is ok to run it now and then, but dont make it an everyday thing. Just pick up a meth kit, its cheaper in the long run anyways.

Besides the sucky effects of most octane boosters on the market I too have heard nothing but good things from lucas. I work at Autozone so I get product reviews a lot.

The nos brand race formula claims 7 octane numbers or 70 points. Auto zone has it as well as a few other places i know of. Im not sure how accurate their claims are though.

I remember a few years a go sportcompact did a review of octane boosters and the nos brand was the only one that made any sort of difference ad it was barely even a point if I remember right.

The best most unbiased review I have found is here:
Octane Booster Reviews
They put Lucas in first place.
However having tried both Lucas and Torco I can tell you, that for me, Torco worked better.

I have used the NOS octane booster and yes as lucas and torco it worked great.

I would only recommend buying one of those 3 boosters..

i get all my shit for free from autozone so i couldnt care less.

Seriously though...I've never had a good experience with OB's, so I would shell out the dough for the meth.

Trust me Torco works, it is cheaper than race gas or Toluene.
Torco contains the same stuff that is used to make race gas, race gas.

Meth is the only cheaper solution, but it involves other hardware.

No that Lenny was baned or was that band (birds get banned I think) for using the word Retarded, it is safe to say that a simple google search will show you how to mix your own. It is easy however Meth is the way to go, but mix away.

Mix in 2.75 gallons of E85 to a tank. Also add 2 oz's of Marvel Mystery Oil or some other UCL such as RL's, RLI Bio Plus or FP before the fill up to help mitigate the dryness of the alcohol. With this it should run to 7K without pulling boost.

I have first hand experience.

The octane boosters only will boost octane if you use a whole bottle in less then a 1/4 tank.

Even then...you will hardly notice a difference.

My gf one time accidentally filled up my tank with 2 gallons of 87. Then the rest of the 10 gallons with 93. There was then some random sputters at WOT (obviously from the mixed 87 octane). I added 2 full bottles of the highest "octane booster" and had no difference.

It took about 2 full tanks to get rid of the crap gas.

Moral of the story...octane boosters dont do shit.

It's unfortunate that you only have 91 where you live, from past experience I'd go for the Lucas OB as a temporary solution. Long-term, get meth injection! You'll probably use a gallon of mix per tank (and you'd be surprised how cheap it is. The .99c Walmart wiper fluid is a 30/70 mix of water/meth) and it'll definitely up the octane and kill the knock.

Although there's an initial investment for the kit and of course the PIA of installing it (doing so stealth-like if you are taking the car in for warranty work lol), but in the long run I think it's worth it.

We have 93 here and I'm still going to be running meth for a number of reasons.

It depends what you buy.
Your blanket statement "octane boosters dont do shit" is blatantly NOT true.
Trust me, Torco works, and works extremely well.
I can go from running cali 91 and knocking like a MF with my ATR tune, to running cali 91 with 16 oz of Torco and seeing zero knock.
Torco works.
It is not cheap, and is usually not available in your local auto store.
Locally I can get 1 quart for $19 from a local fuel/lube distributor, but I like it so much I buy 5 gal pails which works out to $11.20 per quart, I generally use 1/2 quart per fill up so $5.60 per fill up for zero knock.

Glazed over the thread. Most octane booster claim 4 point or 7 point increase in octane which is really .4 or .7 so with 91 you now have 91.4 or 91.7(good at math huh!). So yes, those are a waste of money. As stated before Torco works well. A 32 oz. can mixed with 10 gals. 93 will give you 104. Ratios are right on the can. When I had a Legacy GT with tune I got 260/280 on 93 with half a tank left. Added a can of Torco, and let it mix for about 5 minutes and then did a power run. With no tuning picked up another 10 whp and a couple ft/lbs. With tuning ended up with 280/300. Shit works.

I didn't even read this before I posted. Spooky.

The secret ingredient is MMT. It was banned from gasoline from 1977-1995. It seems it's only fairly recently come back to the octane booster use.

Torco uses MMT, as do some other boosters and yes it is effective at raising your octane.

Torco race fuel concentrate work w/o a doubt and if mixed with 5 gallons will legit make you some 100+ octane soup
I used a can of accelerator at every fill up in my speed

Since no one mentioned it, the less common 'Octanium' also works, and can be found cheaper than Torco and Lucas. As said the secret ingredient is MMT which these 3 share.

avgas also burns at a different rate and as such is definately not for high revving engines.

Aviation engines(Lycoming etc) run under 3000rpm for the most part.

As far as octane boosters are concerned I would go with Torco or bust. Its one of the only octane boosters that is actual unleaded race gas. A lot of Corvette owners I hang out with use it if they want a little bit more power. I would personally recommend Meth if the octane levels where you are aren't that great.
