Default CDFP return line

I bought a CDFP from a member here and its damaged, but it may still be usable. There are two return pipes, one is straight and the other is a 90* bend that I believe should come out parallel to the straight pipe. The problem is that the 90* bend pipe has been bent down towards the CDFP body and bent further than 90* such that flow is probably half of what it normally is. How much fuel actually flows through this particular pipe?

that bent/kink doesn't look good. I bent the other line on my CDFP before and when I installed it and turned on the car the car would stumble and the pressure would be low and not constant.

did the member tell you the line was bent? I hope so too.

No they didnt mention it, if it was steel ide just bend it back but it looks to be aluminum which may crack.

shot in the dark here,

heat the aluminum at the kink, and bend the pipe till its straight

while the metal is malliable, insert a rod the approximate inner diameter of the tube, carefully working it to the necessary diameter

place a spring inside the pipe and bend back into the necessary position, this will prevent the tube from kinking again

I used this technique when i was in college, building a project, just gotta be careful with heating the metal and work slow, but i dont know if you have the necessary clearances.

if ptp sells replacement parts id just pick that up.

With the pinch in the bend I would doubt that it will work right. If you try to bend it back you still may have problems with it either cracking or actually pinching tighter. If it was me I would PM the member and ask for your money back since they didn't let you know.

I really do not think the guy who sold him the pump was aware of the damage to it...

here is the original f/s thread..

http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...el-pump-45123/

Notice the original pic of the pump in the f/s thread showed the bend.. the guy said he never got a chance to install it, so I doubt he had a chance to see what a non damaged pump looked like...

Yeah looks like an honest mistake.
I would definitely call ptp.
Maybe he has an unusable core that he could scavenge that part from for you.

JJ has like 2 ruined pumps, i bet with that part in good shape.

The bent tube is used for the relief, usually only when you take your foot off the gas during high pressure in the rail.

It probably doesn't NEED to flow too much. Especially since the ID of the kink is still bigger than valve.

In fact i'd be willing to bet that the ID of the kind is bigger than the feed hole into the rail from the hardline. IIRC the rail feed hole is only like 2mm or something.
