Default HPFP Removal and Shipping Questions

Hey Guys,

So I got a chance to get my hands on a buddy of mine's CP-e HPFP.
The problem however is he is in Ottawa and I'm in Vancouver (That's over 2500 miles away).
Now the good thing is I'm flying to Ottawa tomorrow for a weekend and so here's my question.
I would need to take my stock pump out, and bring it with me on the plane there, get his CP-e pump and then bring it back with me and install once I'm home.

If I remove my pump, is it wise to just leave the car sitting there exposed with no pump or should I cover the hole that the pump removal leaves open to avoid contaminates from coming in?

Next for carrying this pump with me, do I just place this in a clean plastic ziplock bag?
Should I fully package that in a box so it doesn't get damaged in flight?
(I have a feeling I can't bring a fuel pump in my carry-on, less I get hassled by security).
Can I even bring a fuel pump on a plane (even in checked luggage)?

Any advice would be appreciated.

OK followup, I can't bring a HPFP on a plane with me in either carry-on or checked luggage.
So now I have to explore paying for overnight shipping through Fedex/UPS/Canadapost.

regardless of how you transport it, definitely put something on the block and over the hard fuel line.

that blue painter's tape works great
